There will be a large sprocket appear in the middle of the brewfest when successfully defended. Using it will grant you the quest.

For some fun, run by the big steins the brewmasters drop to get the drunken master!

They come every 30 minutes for 5 minutes.
1) During that time you should drink the freeze booze on the table (at least 1) while aiming at a Dark Dwarf. You'll throw the mug at them, and an NPC will throw you a new mug.
2) Map this to a key and spam it while turning left and right.
3) If they destroy all the kegs, you will not be able to loot the gear.
4) You can loot the gear once every 12 hours.
5) The gear will be available from :05 to :20 and :35 to :50 (eg 1:05 is when they stop attacking, it'll be there for 15 minutes)
6) This is worth 10 tokens
7) The "whirlwind" effect is picked up from big mugs that randomly appear on the ground
8) Stand on tables and you're less likely to be hit by a DD (serious knockback)

This quest name is very likely an homage to Ron White (They Call Me "Tater Salad") of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour.

At certain points in his career (I saw him in person 12 years ago) he would start segments of his routine:
This one time, when I was drunk, I gave my wife a Midol and I wrapped it in a piece of cheese.

Although this could be a reference to a band camp moment, it could just be a plain old reference to stories told about times when people were drunk. "This one time, when I was drunk..." is often the beginning to many a great and epic story from friends which seem to be awesome, but looking back, may have been very hazardous and/or ridiculous at the time they occurred. This seems to fit the fact that this quest has to do with dark iron dwarfs who drill out of the ground in large machines in the middle of an Oktoberfest like party who are fought off by drunken players throwing beer mugs at them. It is a bit unusual.

You don't need to have an active target, the game chooses the closes moving dark iron when you drink.

Can u complete this quest if ur not drunk?say if u log in after a bunch of other players defeated the dark irons and accept the quest or do u need 2 be drunk 2 see the dark iron mole machine wreckage?

You don't even have to be present during the Dark Iron invasion, in order to loot the "cog" on the ground that gives this quest.

If the group that was present during the last invasion, beat the invasion, then you can come along and loot the cog yourself. (As long as it hasn't despawned, of course.)

If you do that, though, you should stick around and help the next group beat the next invasion, IMO. Too often I see people just standing around during an invasion, and the group of people valiantly fighting off the Dark Iron Dwarves is just too small to win. So if you're around, help out, whether you already have your 10 coins or not! Besides, it's fun!

Something interesting I've noticed today doing the quest (10/7/12), as a Warlock your pet can grab the spinning mugs to stun the dwarves.

I used the "/petmoveto" macro to move him all over the place stunning dwarves as he goes.

Can anyone confirm this works for hunter pets as well?

As of this brewfest you can't get drunk off the samplers. While I can understand many reasons for removing it, I liked having a foggy screen after chucking mugs at Dark Irons for several minutes.

I agree with the other comments saying that it's somehow understandable, but somehow... well it's just not the same :-(

If you play on a low population server (and in this period, a lot of servers have low population) and are struggling because you always fail the event, I'd suggest to join ANY group from a higher population server. In this way, you'll be moved to their realm and, hopefully, you'll be able to loot the quest item.

As of 8.2.0, this daily has been retired in favor of Direbrew Cog. The days of Stein-chucking and Super Brew-downing are now behind us, and they will be missed.
