The cave can be found at 27,51. It is directly south of the great lift, along the cliff wall. You will find a walkway up the cliff face to the cave entrance.
We went in with Mage, Shaman, Druid and Warrior...made light work of this cave and all that died inside... Warrior was a bit off though as he broke the boxes again after we killed all of the waves... We killed the second wave and he left the group. Grenka was in the 3rd wave of mob's.
Good Luck...its easy if you have a good group...bit harder solo...but is do-able...

Grenka was already spawned when I entered the final cave, with five harpies relatively near her. I pulled in two groups (solo 33 warrior) and didn't have much trouble, and looted the claw.

However, I decided to break the crates afterward, and was overrun by three waves of harpies. I have been told that Grenka typically spawns after the third crate is broken, so my recommendation is to break the crates one at a time, deal with the spawns, then rest/heal before breaking the next.

Rezzing in the cave is difficult, but not impossible. If you rez in the corner furthest from the crates, it is likely you will only have to face one or two harpies that are within aggro range (of levels similar to the mobs).

Oh this place pissed me off into a state of mind I've yet to believe possible.

Lv30 Warlock, Tried to solo (No where dose it say this is a group quest...however, if you're in to reading the quest logs...it dose say friends =/)

Noting they have a move to blast me into a gust of wind so I'm out of combat, also, the ones that silence you for 8 seconds, and will do it as often as possible; A 15 second CD on the move is what it seemed to be.

Anyways, I made it to the back of the cave, and touched the boxes un-aware that it starts an event.

I made it to the 3rd wave, but by this time, my pet was struggling to stay alive, so my DPS was being turned into health funnel, and DoTs in between. If I had more room to move out of the silence, I might of made it, but I also had Re-spawns on me by the 3rd wave.

So in short, Go with a group, or if you plan to solo...be fast, and ready for waves of these guys.

Casters are going to have a hard time here due to the 8 second silence...it's not fun learning these things the hard way.

hard to solo but doable.....spawns used to be insane, but with the new system its a bit easyer...anny casters should be carefull as some of the mobs does a silence...watch out....

This quest as a solo warlock (33) was too difficult doing solo. As soon as you open even one crate the waves of Harpies start flowing, by the time I got to the 3rd wave my pet was toast and they were all aggro'ing me. I tried to fear them all in turn but that annoying silence spell really pisses me off. I wouldn't say it is impossible to do as a solo warlock but you would have to fight flawlessly to win this one, better off going as a group, especially a healer, maybe a pally for some buffs.

Destroying only one of the foodstuffs spawns 4 waves of Roguefeathers and Harpies. Grenka comes along with the 4th wave.

Be careful as the mobs can cast a 8 second silence and a 4 second stun.

This quest can be soloed but I would recommend being level 31 or 32. If you're a caster class (Mage, Priest, Warlock...not so much the Warlock) then it would be best to bring someone else. The Harpies in the cave silence you for 8 seconds rendering you useless. I would also recommend being able to use Silk Bandages or Heavy Silk Bandages and bring some Health Potions.

I managed to solo this as a 32 Demo Lock but it was somewhat tricky. Break open the nearest box and run to the opposite end of the cave. Wait for the first group to go down towards the boxes and pull them back to you. After that group goes down, the next group will come in. If you are in the right spot you can avoid aggro which will give you time to eat/drink. Once Grenka comes in, kill her first and loot if you are going to die. You'll still complete the quest if you die as long as you loot the claw.

As a mage this quest is extremely difficult to solo, but it can be done as I did it at level 32, but I did die once in the process. First of all make sure the area is clear before breaking the box, first wave will come if any Harpy comes the ones that silence immediate sheep that one and finish off the other one, if both are harpies that silence sheep one use your wand and any instant spells you have. Now this is tricky because they re-spawn somewhat fast but before you get to kill the last Harpy before Grenka comes keep that one sheeped and clear the area once again before killing the last one, once the area is cleared move all the way back to the cave and kill the last Harpy once you kill that one Grenka will come with two or even three other harpies which happened in my case, but as long as you wait in the back of the cave you won't aggro them.

Now this is the first step to killing Grenk, open attack with your best spell you got in my case was Pyroblast (fire spec) then I followed with Fire Blast, and sheeped one of the harpies that silence, blinked away from the sheep frost nova them, flamestrike, blast wave and arcane explosion until they all die pick up loot and claw and get the heck out of there.

I strongly recommend some health potions and some heavy silk bandages, anyways good luck to anyone trying to solo this!!!

The spawn time is insane. I solo'd at 34 hunter, unknowingly broke all the boxes at once and started getting pounded. My pet took most of the force, but its hard to keep all the threat off you. Plus there's so many that by the time you get one group of mobs off, another one joins up. I ended up having so many I killed Grenka, looted the corpse before I died, got ressurected and turned it in. At 33 I was able to take on multiple 37's and 38's in Desolace, but this was a huge pain in the ass. Not impossible to solo, but if your lower level group if you can to save time and headache.

Just solo'd this on my 35 Warrior. I was Arms, so this review helps Arms Warriors more than others, but here goes:

Fight through the cave, making sure it's cleared, then break a box. Only break one box, they come in waves, not with every box that is broken. With every wave, hit Sweeping Strike, Bloodrage, then Slam Spam til they're dead. Run back to the crates and Eat to restore health. Rinse and repeat until Grenka spawns. When Grenka spawns, hit Retaliation AND Sweeping Strikes, then Slam Spam. It helps to have a Pot here, because I was low on hp. Since I was an Orc, I hit Blood Fury so that every Retaliation/Slam did some more damage. You should also charge each individual wave, the extra rage helps.

soloed this as a 31 rogue, no problem, yes had to pot once or twice but might be able to avoid even that with a gouge and bandage. save your evasion for the boss. only need to open 1 crate. and after i was done everything respawned.

Soloed as 30 hunter. Pretty easy. 3 waves with 2-3 mobs each. On 4th wave the boss showed up. So killed her quickly becuase my pet was dying. After she was dead, i feigned and waited for the other mobs to despawn. But i got inpatient so i looted her and ran towards the exit. Getting out was a lot harder. Died 2 times on the way.

This quest is no longer classified as a group quest or as needing 2 players..with the recent patch they made it a solo-able quest now.
Grenka is lvl 30 now and easy kill.

Yeah just she comes, no waves, it's a little disappointing now. I was able to solo it twice before, as a warrior and as a rogue. Just hide behind the rock on the southern side of the cave to not aggro them, so you have plenty of time to eat and bandage between waves. It didn't need that big of a nerf. It's almost a freebee now.

it was pretty easy to solo this quest as a lvl 32 frost mage.

when leaving, and you dont want to kill, just frost nova, blink and sheep some when leaving and run. maybe if you have some feathers, which i assure you'll get, you can slow fall out, and then to get further to leave all combat just blink again.

This quest is a real test of endurance,as you need to kill tons of harpies to get the end of the cave.Rogues and druids have the quest as easy though,stealth :>

Start heading to the cords stated above. Make your way through the cave and head to the bottom of it. Its a straight path. At the bottom of the cave you will find 3 boxes, open them and eventually Grenka will spawn. She will come alone and its a regular mob, just like the others in the cave. Kill it and loot her claw.

Druids with the Feral Instinct talent can stealth all the way to the boxes without alerting the harpies on the way. They often screeched at me when I had to pass too close (it's a narrow passage), but I kept moving and they didn't attack. I did kill the 3 nearest to the boxes before breaking one, to avoid social aggro from Grenclaw. I'm not sure if that was necessary or not.

The only issue in the cave is that the harpies run in fear at low health, and it's easy to get a daisy chain of aggro if you don't dispatch them quickly. Feral druids, I suggest hitting Moonfire as soon as they start running (have it on a keybind or another bar so you can pop it without having to break form first). Hit it again right after GCD is up, and they should drop before finding a friend.

The rate of respawn is abnormally high in the cave, making it difficult to solo for some classes. In some cases, harpies were respawning immediately along with surrounding ones, causing them to all aggro when I was low on health and mana. It's perfectly viable to remove all your gear (but you don't have to, it makes you last longer and costs hardly anything) and suicide run to the back of the cave. Res there, kill the few mobs in the area, kill the named mob quickly and hearth or suicide run back out.

I was lvl 27, when I did this quest and I did it alone and without any problems. I am protection warrior, but if I wouldn't use Heavy Stone Statue (from Jewelcrafting), I will die many more than once. :)
I had 2k armor and 1.2k hp, but my the biggest aid was Improved Revenge, which stun oponent for 3 secs.

And Grenka is lvl 31, not 30.

Soloable with a warlock at level 25.
Make sure you have pots, HS and SS ready.
Run into the cave as far as possible, sacrifice your VW just before you die (if it hasn't been silenced)
With any luck you will have gotten to the boxes, or within ressing distance of them. Keep running back till you can ress on the boxes, only one harpy will attack you. Use your pots and summon VW, kill it.
Once you have healed up summon the boss, no other harps will come with it anyone making it quite an easy fight. The main thing to make sure is to keep your aggro lower than your VWs. When it gets low health remember to use Curse of Recklessness to stop it running away and aggroing the rest of the cave.

Hope this helps any Warlocks aiming to get that very nice wand :)

Solo'd as a level 25 BM hunter with a tenacity pet. I had 2 BoA weapons, BoA shoulders, and a BoA bow so I was pretty well carried, but I think anyone at my level could do it. Tossed a dynamite to start the fight (engineering) and popped an ice trap to get a good position. Then, just DoT her up with a serpent sting and start blasting her with whatever you've got. Blood Fury helps if you're an orc.

Hardest part was getting to her. If your pet has trouble holding threat, make sure cower is off autocast and growl is on, and if it is then use Aspect of the Viper. Half damage but half threat.

Easy to solo as a level 28 frost mage.The Screeching Harpies might bug ya a bit, with the 6 sec silencing.Just clear the cave then get full HP and MP at the boxes.Destroy em and she will come flying.Easy to kill,you get like 5k exp with all grinding.

I soloed this quest at level 26 with my rogue.... I died 2 times, once to get further into the cave, second... just died... anyway, it should be pretty easy if you got tactics and maybe some gear. I was 3/2 rare gear so....

Due to the extremely fast respawn rate, this cave is fabulous for higher level folks for farming light feathers, sharp claws, and vibrant plumes. They also drop decent amounts of silk and wool. As a lvl 70 blood elf hunter, in 45 minutes I got 70 silk, 55 light feathers, 30 vibrant plumes, 15 wool, 10 sharp claws, and 2 green weapons.

when i did this quest as a 28 warlock after i opened the first 2 crates about 10 harpies spawned and started attacking me (all about level 30). my advice is do not even attempt this quest without a 3-man group of healer tank and DPS

Description

I'm pleased to see your courage remains steadfast in light of what you've already done. Since your faith is intact, the time has come to test your body.

First is a test of endurance. Go to the Roguefeather Den west of Freewind Post. Make your way to the depths of their lair and destroy their foodstuffs. By then you should have provoked their fury, and if you are able to survive long enough, Grenka Bloodscreech herself will come for you--kill her and bring me her claw to complete your test.
