fun quest as well.

this quest is the opener for the daily ram racing quests, it being repeatable forever is a bug that has been hotfixed and is now repeatable on a12 hours delay (not daily quest).

You don't have to talk to the guys when picking up or delivering, you just ride by them and they give you credit. Flynn is near the Inn, and has a ^ over his head. go near him and you'll get your keg. Then ride back to where you got the quest from. And repeat.

You can complete this with your normal mount too, don't know if it's intended or not. Accidentally clicked some beer in my inventory instead of the reins and got dismounted, still could pick up and return the kegs and thus complete the quest without the ram.

Best route is:
Beer Tents -> Apple Barrel at crossroad ->Flynn at Karanos -> Keep riding past him about 20 feet to an apple barrel near a flag. -> Apple Barrel at crossroad -> Beer Tents

Doing this you should be able to stay at a gallop and complete at least 9 runs for 27 tickets.. if you are perfect you might be able to do 10 runs for 30 tickets, but I usually hit some lag (or have to wait for an apple barrel to proc).

This post is now outdated, with the latest Brewfest event they added a new apple bucket and you may now go full gallop the entire way without hitting the first or last apple bucket to maximize efficiency.

On Alliance side I can max out at 51 tickets, 17 trips.

Basically I start out as far away from the quest giver as I can while facing the direction I'm going to go with the Ram Racing Reins bound to a key so I can spam it easily while moving with my mouse for direction. I spam the Ram Racing Reins to keep a gallop all the way to the apple barrel by the bridge (it will reset without you having to stop) and over the small hill and then right as I go over the hill I stop pressing my key binding. When I reach the tiny stone wall on the ground by the road I turn around (he throws the keg even if I don't go all the way to him). When I reach the hill again on my way back I will begin to canter automatically since I haven't been spamming my keybinding. I canter all the way back to the apple barrel by the bridge, usually pressing the key binding for the Ram Racing Reins periodically to slowly swap between gallop and canter, just enough not to get exhausted. When I reach the apple barrel I start spamming my Ram Racing Reins again to gallop all the way back and repeat.

(start) ->
apple barrel by bridge -> over hill (stop using reins) -> turn around at stone wall -> over hill (begins canter) -> apple barrel by bridge -> turn in turn around and repeat

It took a while to get used to, but this is faster than galloping between all the apple barrels. I used my bank alts to practice with. Before I reached around 30 tickets galloping the entire way, but this way it is possible to get around 50. Another good trick to shave a tad more time off of the trips is that when you are about to turn around; adjust the camera so you can see behind your character with your left mouse button, then turn around suddenly by clicking your right mouse button behind you. This should make you do a complete 180 without missing a step or wasting time moving in a half-circle. Although I cannot prove it, seems to me that the Riding Crop works on the Brewfest mount too.

i did the ram raicing quest, and after that i "voluntary" helped out, by running back and forward with the kegs for 2 tokens per keg. however, i havent been able to do that again, and its been more that 12 hours. did they change it to 24 hours this year, anyone know?

So how far can you make him chuck the barrel before you catch it?My best is the apple barrel by the bridge on my return trip.

If you cut around right after you cross the path in front of the building you can save yourself ALOT of time and get more runs in. I submitted a screen shot so you can see it

Well, the timer's irrelevent. You can dismiss the ram, mount up and still complete the quest after the 4 minutes. I dont think its faster per se, but beats spamming a button the whole time

Hey, I read that you could do the daily version every 12 hours but that is not so. I know this as I have been stood now waiting for 4 hours to do it the second time lol

Anyone else have this problem?, I have asked others and was told that ya can only do it once a day when the dailies have reset and not every 12 hours. Hmmm gonna take me a good while to get the 460+ tokens for achievement :(

To me it seems that after 12 hours i still can't get the quest. Guess ill have to wait 18 hours then.

But even with this quest, the barking one and the "This one time" it seems to be going tight with the tokens. Atleast for me. Hope ill make it, since then ill have the "What a long, strange trip it's been

*Edit* i got it a few min after posting this. Tho it's not a quest really, there is no exclamation mark over his head. Talk to him and ask if he still needs help.

Once u get the ram, DO NOT dismount. (like i did) When u are on the ram, u get 2 tokens each time u deliver a keg. And you have 4 mins before the ram disappears.
I dismounted after the 3rd keg (like when u have the actual quest) and wasn't able to talk to him again. So i only got 6 tokens from it today :(

BREWFEST 2009: How to easily earn 30+ Brewfest Prize Token per run:

Talk to Neill Ramstein (46.40) to start the "daily" quest.*
~~Place the Ram Racing Reins you receive from Neill Ramstein on your ActionBar. You will find the item in your bag.~~
Spam the Ram Racing Reins immediately to enter a gallop and maintain it.
Ride to apple basket #2 (47.45), in the crossroads after the bridge.
Ride to apple basket #3 (47.49), paralell to the gnomes' workshop across the road.
Ride to Flynn Firebrew (45.52) in Kharanos, but do a 180 degree turn (see Joroesan's comment) the second (!) he throws the Portable Brewfest Keg at you.
Ride to apple basket #3 (47.49).
Ride to apple basket #2 (47.45).
Deliver the Portable Brewfest Keg to Pol Amberstill (46.40) back at the Brewfest tent where you started.
Repeat.

The trick is to only use apple basket #2 and #3, turning around the second you've received or turned in a Portable Brewfest Keg. Apple basket #1 and #4 should only be used as a last resort. The range on the NPC's tosses is fairly generous, so you can turn around just as you pass the small stone wall in front of Flynn Firebrew (apple basket #4) and at the Brewfest banner in front of Pol Amberstill (apple basket #1 aka start)

Maintain the gallop at all times (hammer those Ram Racing Reins ~~on your ActionBar~~)!

Practice makes perfect. GOOD LUCK! :-)

Additional tips for 2018:
The radius of the apple baskets is much more forgiving nowadays.
You can ride straight through the apple baskets - no more jumping.

Co-ordinates for apple baskets and NPCs:

46.40 - apple basket #1, in the tent at Brewfest.
47.45 - apple basket #2, at the crossroads, near the bridge.
47.49 - apple basket #3, paralell to gnomes' workshop across the road.
46.53 - apple basket #4, in Kharanos.

46.40 - Neill Ramstein, the questgiver.
45.52 - Flynn Firebrew, provides Portable Brewfest Keg.
46.40 - Pol Amberstill, provides Brewfest Prize Token in exchange for Portable Brewfest Keg.

Be careful not to start the event before a server reset. I did it and when logging back (after 4 runs) I lost the ram and the reins. Had to wait again 18 hours. That was a great run... :-(

"I found that the most effective way of doing this is as follows. Now this will only work if you pay attention and don't get stuck on a fence or tree. There are three buckets of apples; the first one by the bridge, the second in the hills before Kharanos, and the third behind the barrel thrower. Your best friend is going to be the first one. You will hopefully never have to use that third one. Stay at a full gallop the entire time.

When you start, go to the first bucket, jump over it (you'll still get rid of the debuff, so don't worry). Skip over the second one by running in a straight line towards the barrel thrower. Right in front of the barrel thrower is a stone fence with a fire pillar in the middle. You can turn on the FIRST half of the fence- meaning BEFORE the fire thing but AFTER the fence actually starts- and still get the barrel. Now, if you got stuck at a fence or tree run to the last bucket of apples, you'll need it. Then run in a straight line towards the SECOND bucket. By the time you get there the debuff should have stacked to about 90 or 95. Use the first bucket again. When you throw the barrel towards the quest starter you can turn right next to a banner holder and a tiki torch thing. Don't actually run under the arch. Follow this pattern until your time is up. Congrats. "

I don't know if it's a bug or client/server latency but fairly regularly, I'll run past the barrel at 47.45 or 47.49 and my ram doesn't get the fatigue refresh. I just had it happen to me twice in today's run, and (since it's happened a couple of times already) I was paying attention) I made damn sure I got very close to each barrel when I passed them. I've also had my ram get fatigued even though the counter had refreshed to zero.

Anybody else experienced this?

i just watched several people doing this and maintained galop the whole time, they were able to remove the fatigue consistently every time, usually when their stack was around 20-30.

anyone know how they were doing this?

Looks like it's not possible to get more token out of this quest this year (2010). I was only able to do 4 kegs until the ram timer was up, and didn't get any extra prize token for the extra keg. The ram timer doesn't get extended after each successful keg this year, so this is the reason we can only do a low number of kegs.

As part of that follow up, at least as far as this year, I've noticed a strange phenomena. I noticed that my timer sat at 2 minutes for a LONG time. Once it got under one minute and started counting down the timer I noticed why... Every time you turn in a keg and get 2 tokens it adds 30 seconds to your timer. So if you're really really good at it you can have significantly longer than 4 minutes. Just thought I'd put it in.

I don't know why Neill needs you to run to Kharanos. Flynn can obviously throw the barrel far enough to reach him.

Good guide.
Thought I'd add some general tips that I learned while doing this every day.

Put reins on the action bar (I put mine on F, Avengers Shield had to share his place x))
Head straight for each basket as much as possible, turning wastes more time than you'd think.
Make sure you touch each basket as you run past it, since missing one can lose you loads of tokens.
You don't need to run all the way up to the deliverer/deliveree, but have your bag up at all times so you can check whether it arrived/left your inventory for each deliverence, since the number of yards you need to be within can vary depending on your latency.
If you manage to get all the way to the deliverence point while the barrel is still chasing you (it's still in your bag though, so don't worry), you know that you've made a very good run, try and do that every time.
I usually get two baskets on the way to get the barrel, and only the second one on the way back. Saves a lot of time.

My record is 36 tokens. That's 18 runs. I'm sure getting more is possible, but if you get that many each day you can get 51 tokens every day if your server doesn't like helping with the iron dwarves, which isn't bad.

I think this quest might be bugged. I just did it a few minutes ago on my Flameward Hippogryph.

I still had the reins in my inventory, but I was not on the ram. *shrug*

I found the stranded goblin Bok Dropcertain at (50.62, 13.49).
Just head east towards Bladefist Bay (the docks) from the quest giver, he'll be the the right side of the road next to two Brewfest flags.
I hope your not too drunk already to misssh him ... hic!

Also, after mounting the ram and dismounting, I was able to use my flying mount to carry the barrels back and forth.

Confirming both replies aretrue.

Location is on the way to the dock to begin the Vash quests.

Once you are off the mount, you can 100% complete this via your own mount.

Appears this has been bug fixed. It is no longer possible to do the quest after dismounting.

You can however always have full speed, just watch out for apples.

I noticed while doing this Hordeside that if you get any damage while on the ram, it will reset your exhaustion stack - so I would just route myself through the two large bonfires between the turn in and the pick up: between that and the two apples, it was smooth sailing. Er... riding.

EDIT: I feel dumb now - I realized that it wasn't the fire that removed the stack, there's a bushel of apples near one of the tents that I kept running past.

This is a good quest for free exp and gold. You can accept and immediately dismount (drops the quest) if you don't care about the tokens. You get the exp/gold when you accept the quest, not finish it.

Bugged, after riding around on my ram trying to find the goblin I decided to click off the ram "buff" and fly around to find him.

When I did , he threw the barrel at me completing part of the quest, I then proceeded to finish the quest by flying back and forth until quest was complete.

Thank God for the mount completion bug--because I think I ran into another one.

First Ram: ran around trying to find the guy. (Who is at 53,51.) Delivered one keg.
Second Ram: Delivered two kegs--then he REFUSED to throw me the third. Ram went poof. Went on here, mounted my drake--and he immediately threw me my keg. Maybe he figured that he'd thrown me a total of 3 kegs while I had a ram . . .

This didn't work on the follow-up, which is the one most of the people here are referencing, in case you're confused.

Apple buckets at 43.0, 17.9 (in corral right near quest giver) and 49.1, 13.7 (just off the main path). Make sure you hit that one going both ways, and you can maintain a gallop. Just make a bee line, instead of going near the main gate.

Rather than riding the slow ram that always gets exhausted just go to Pol Amberstill and ask him for a set of reins. If they are in your inventory Flynn will still throw you a keg even if you are on your flying mount. It works so much better, and obviously much faster.

The Ram Racing Reins is removed from the game since Brewfest 2013 ( 2013-09-20 to 2013-10-06 )
Now the Extra Action Button 1 is used, known from some bossfights (below center of screen).

Tipp: Use mouse to steer, and use a button to control speed.

With Game Menu - Key bindings - Extra Action Button 1 you can bind a button ,
or put a macro in the actionbar of your choice:
/click ExtraActionButton1

But remove other keybindings around that button, which can dismount you.
Instant casts will dismount you, as well as item use macros, ...

Helpful Tomtom waypoints for alliance quest:

/way Dun Morogh 53.26 50.74 Receive keg

/way Dun Morogh 53.64 38.80 Deliver keg

You will realistically only need the middle two apple buckets, but the other two waypoints are listed below for them. Just run back and forth between these 4 points while beating your ram like a red headed step child (use the macro below on your action bar). Be sure to enable minimap waypoints and set your clear waypoint distance to zero so they don't get cleared when you run by them the first time. You will see the buckets appear as green dots your minimap. I found this helpful because they would often not load quickly enough when I was running fast on the ram so I couldn't see exactly where they would be. The receive and deliver points err on the side of caution.

Don't forget to use this macro on your bar for the action button so you can steer with your mouse:

/click ExtraActionButton1

The other two apple buckets in case you want to use them as well:

Sometimes the apple baskets will have a delay before loading for the player due to the speed that the ram travels at.
It can make your life easier if you place world markers on each of the apple baskets as those do not have any loading delays

I could do this quest one time (the first time) and then it became a daily. But when I take the daily now i don't get the quest and the blue exclamation mark dissapears. I get the ram, too but not the quest. :c

Is it supposed to be like this?

I acctually discovered that you get 2 coins for each keg you deliver, even if you don't have a quest.

Some general tips for people who are struggling to get a decent number;

- Don't keyboard turn, use your mouse to spin instantly.
- Skip the first apple basket on the way back from picking up the barrel.
- Run between the trees (on the way to the barrel pickup before the second basket) instead of going around.

You can probably skip the first basket on the way to the barrels too, but I need to double check how risky it is.

This seems to change a little every year, so I'm updating a post I made for the old Ram Racing Reins item for what seems to be a pretty good route for 2015 at least. With this route I consistently get 20 trips for 40 tickets. It relies on three main interface elements for optimization:

Binding Action Bar -> Extra Action Button 1 to a convenient key. I use the Backtick key (to the left of the 1 key), and rebind the Tilde key (Shift Backtick) for Toggle Character Pane.
Steering the mount with the right mouse button. Or both left and right mouse buttons.
Steering the camera with the left mouse button.

The main thing with the mouse buttons is you'll use right button (or both buttons) to aim where you want the mount to go, then while it continues running in whatever direction you pointed it you'll use (only) the left button to swing the camera around and face yourself head-on. Then to instantly make a 180 degree turn, you hit the right mouse button again.

The only two barrels used are the northern middle barrel at 54.6, 43.4 next to the signpost just past the bridge over the frozen river, and the southern middle barrel at 54.5, 47.5 just to the west of Steelgrill's Depot. You hit the northern one when headed south and both of them while headed north.

When starting at Neill, face toward the northern barrel, aiming between the Ironforge banners on the left and the pine trees on the right. Your facing direction will be the one you start moving in when the event starts.
Mash your Extra Action Button 1 key to get up to full speed as fast as possible, then tap away at it once a second or so, to maintain full speed.
Run directly at the northern barrel.
As soon as you hit the barrel, use your mouse to quickly turn roughly 30 degrees to your right, and aim straight for the scrawny little bush as the north edge of a rock wall on the west (right) side of the road.
While continuing to tap the reins, let go of the right mouse button and swing your camera around with the left button, so you are looking at yourself head-on.
As soon as pass the north end of the rock wall by the beer throwers, which is the wall between the inn and the forge, immediately press both buttons and start heading back the way you came. Turn slightly right to head for the southern barrel, passing to the left of the trees on the small hill. Usually your beer will reach you as you are passing the trees.
After hitting the south barrel, run (mostly) straight to the north barrel.
After hitting the north barrel, adjust your course slightly to the left to aim between the Ironforge banner on your right and the trees on the left, back to where Neill is.
Swing your camera around again to face yourself.
As soon as you pass the Brewfest banner that is in front of Neill, hit both buttons again to instantly 180 back toward the north barrel.
Back to step 1.

Using this route and never letting up on full speed you end up hitting the south barrel at 90 exhaustion and the north barrel, when headed south again, at 75 exhaustion.

If anyone is wondering, you only need to hit 3 of the four apple barrels along the road. The timing is pretty tight, but it can be done. You can get a few extra trips in this way.

I hit both barrels on the way to Karanos, and on the way back only hit the second barrel. Turn around at Karanos RIGHT on the stone parapet of the little wall along the road near the beer-thrower and just keep going. It might take a few tries to get right, but the keg he throws will catch up to you as you pass the first apple barrel.

***Important Warning***
Don't try starting the daily version Brew For Brewfest while on the Grand Expedition Yak. I got put on a racing ram & given the action button on the screen, but had no reins in my inventory and could not collect any kegs. Goodbye 40ish tokens. I suspect this bug affects other merchant/multi-passenger mounts, so be careful.
I have submitted a bug report.
