This is a really cool fight.

Once you start the fight by using the egg, the room will fill with a variety of mobs. You need to kill the 4 Wind Serpents that appear, and loot the blood off of tehm, and use it to douse one of the fires in each corner of the room.

Every time you douse a fire, a dragonkin will walk in and start channeling a spell on Hakkar. Do not let them complete this channel. It's easy enough to do, just attack them and kill them.

After all 4 flames are doused, Hakkar decides its time for you to die. A simple Tank n' Spank fight.

The tricky part is conserving mana for the last part of the fight.

You need to either be on the quest "The God Hakkar" (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=3528) or have already completed it in order to summon this boss.

After you have completed the quest, speak to Yeh'kinya one more time to obtain Yeh'kinya's Scroll (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=10818), which will allow you to summon this boss whenever you want.

He's not immune to fear. So if you have a warlock, it's a kill if you manage to get him to actually form.

In my experience, you only get one shot at killing this boss each run. If you wipe, you can't resummon him. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The fight with the Avatar of Hakkar requires the use of either the Egg of Hakkar or Yeh'kinya's Scroll.

First off, make sure all of your party is in the summoning room, for once the event begins gates will seal you off from the rest of the instance and anyone caught outside the gates won't be in to help you.

Before the summoning begins, gather up the rest of the party together in a corner of the room beside one of the four flames. Also, in order to make looting the necessary blood off of the Hakkari Bloodkeepers easier, the leader can set the loot options to "Free-For-All." That way anyone can loot the blood and use it to douse the flames, or you can assign one person to be solely responsible for taking the blood and dousing the flames.

When the avatar has been summoned, a variety of mobs will appear in waves. So long as you stick to the corners of the room, you can control how many of these mobs will aggro your party at a time. Along with these will be one of the Hakkari Bloodkeepers. Once you kill it, loot the blood, and douse a flame, a Nightmare Suppressor dragonkin will spawn and attempt to channel energy to banish the Avatar away. This is a bad thing because if it succeeds the event will end and you won't be able to resummon the Avatar during the current run. So as soon as it appears it should be engaged into a fight and defeated. Between waves it is possible to fall out of combat, so the opportunity to replenish mana and mend hp should be taken when necessary.

Once three flames are doused and last bit of blood collected, save it and use the lull in the fight to get ready for the Avatar. When ready, extinguish the last flame and the Avatar of Hakkar will be made solid. During this fight care needs to be taken because occassionally the Avatar will curse one of your party, mind controlling him/her and turning them against the rest of you. Decurse or CC that character if your able to, especially if it's someone who could easily kill one of your clothies if left unchecked. Eventually the curse will wear off and they'll return to normal. Otherwise it's like a previous poster said. The fight is a typical tank and spank.

Yeah, not a good idea to just walk in unprepared. Good posts to the above, worked like a charm... the second time we tried it, lol. BTW, even if you do kill the Avatar, and some of your party dies, they will not be able to loot it. You must be living to loot it, reguardless if your party waits for the others to walk it back. Dunno on a rez issue if this is the same case, can someone confirm this?

If you're a higher level running a lower level through this, the lower level can stand outside the fighting area, and they'll still be able to loot as long as the boss dies not too far from the gate near the lower level. (The gates close where the gap on the floor is, locking everyone in (or out)).

For my 70 hunter, the fight took 8 minutes. My friend, a level 42 pally, stood outside the whole time, got experience for each kill, and was able to loot the items.

Boss drops two blues when he dies.

No, you cant skin him. :(

As a 70 Affliction warlock (and equipped mostly with greens) with VW, this fight was relatively easy.

It appears that you can't pick up Hakkari Blood while already one presents in your bag. Just note that, elite mob Hakkari Bloodkeeper or Nightmare Suppressor does not appear in numbers, one at a time, so be at ease.
What I believe to be the problem is, the presence of several Hakkari Minions. Even though they are non-elite and easily get rid of, many of them just spawn to fill vacancy. Damage dealt by them wont be a problem for high lvl player, but for players around 50 lvl, it could be menacing. Pummeling down one by one is just wasting, maybe splitting the party into 2 could solve this; one for elite, another for trash mobs.

For Avatar of Hakkar, just nuke him.

I'm curious. How does one summon it now that 3.0.8 hit? Do we still need a special quest or item? I am there right now, not being able to summon him with all of the instance cleared. So if you know, it would be awesome if you could share.

I just tried to duo this with my 53 Affi 'lock and her 53 Shadow Priest friend (both non twinks). The fight was certainly interesting. We managed (using the comments here) to get the blood to douse all the flames. We tried to kill all of the non-elites before we summoned Hakkar, but they spawned too fast. We ended up fighting Hakkar and six minions. Using Psychic Scream and Howl of Terror we managed to get Hakkar down to 2/3 health before we died.

The thing to note here is that Hakkar doesn't despawn. (Nor do the minions.) He doesn't even regenerate to full health.

I waited for the Priest to come and ressurect me rather than releasing spirit. When she came close (not too close, about line of sight of Hakkar) to the room Hakkar and co. aggroed on her. They followed her out of the room (through the gate) and down to the end of the tunnel before turning back. The second time she did this she managed to land Shadow Word: Pain on him while fleeing. Seeing this, I released and ran back to the instance. We aggroed them again and killed them all (fear-kiting) in the tunnel outside his room. He dropped everything as usual and we completed the quest.

By far the hardest boss in the instance for us.

How do you get to this boss? Is it possible to stealth to the Avatar of Hakkar without clearing another part of the instance? (i.e. I know one needs to wipe out the entire room of dragonkin before engaging the Shade of Eranikus, or else they will all aggro).

Avatar of Hakkar is a level 48 elite skeletal wind serpent summoned in the Temple of Atal'Hakkar. The Avatar can be summoned in the Sanctum of the Fallen God using either an or .

The Avatar of Hakkar is the mortal presence of the god Hakkar the Soulflayer. Its spirit still haunts the Temple of Atal'Hakkar, waiting for the right time to regain its power.

Legend state that there is an egg that is the only item that can contain the essence of Hakkar and prevent him from rising again. The stories say that the location of the egg is somewhere near the Hinterlands.

Taking down the Avatar of Hakkar is deceptively easy, although the event looks complicated. Someone with the egg or scroll must start the event; then the entire group should huddle up in the corner by one of the Eternal Flames.

There will be an elite Hakkari Bloodkeeper that spawns between each Eternal Flame you put out; killing that Bloodkeeper will drop Hakkari Blood for someone to loot. Meanwhile non-elite serpents will also spawn and meander around the central circle where the Avatar of Hakkar is waiting to be freed. They will not attack unless aggroed, or the Bloodkeeper is near them when pulled. It's critical to stay in the corners, so you only have to fight the elite mobs, and the occasional serpent that aggros with it. As you put out each flame, run along the walls to the next flame. Periodically an elite dragonspawn will path in, and begin casting something on Hakkar. Pull them over to the group just like the Bloodkeepers, though nothing will assist them.

Your group can take their time like this, putting out each flame and resting/drinking as needed. Once there is only one flame left to put out and you have the last Hakkari Blood, then kill any remaining elites and spawn the Avatar of Hakkar. The serpents beneath him will aggro, but a quick burst of any form of Area Effect damage should quickly kill them. Then all that's left to do is kill the Avatar, who actually looks much deadlier than he is. He will Mind Control someone in the group periodically, but the duration is short, and he really doesn't have much health. Once he dies, those with the quest can collect his essence!

Many groups will turn on free loot to make it easier to gather the blood and extinguish the torches. Make sure you wait until group loot is turned back on before looting the corpse or you may accidentally ninja loot without thinking.

Soloed as a 54 Affliction lock, although I dinged 55 during phase 1. Just dot all the adds in phase one and drain tank/howl elites when needed. Dark pact and life tap for delicious, scrumptious mana.

When you spawn Hakkar, simply dot and fear for an easy mode kill. Even with a Bloodkeeper still up when spawning Hakkar it was still a joke.

anyone know if you can kill this boss without summoning? i only question cause you can now kill the raven lord boss without druid summon so maybe you can fight avatar of hakkar without quest summon?

As of The Shattering, this instance is redesigned. There is one floor and three bosses. The quest giver at the door will give you a quest to kill the Avatar of Hakkar and provide the egg for summoning. No pre-requisites required.

after the redesign of this instance, this particular fight has become quite different.

Instead of the 2 different phases, you now have 1 single phase, which obviously is the boss fight.

It's still a tank n spank, only with a Mind Control mechanic included. I believe it is this spell: Cause Insanity , though I'm not sure.

It's not particularly hard in any way.

Easily Solo'd by a MM Hunter

Firstly I skipped trash by throwing down a freezing trap, disengaging through them out of aggro range and waiting for casts to go off then feigning.
The next two serpents after the front trash can be frost trapped and feigned and then you'll be in hakkar's room.

To spawn hakkar click the pile of skulls and back of once the cast is done. Once he's in the room put your pet on passive and autoshot hakkar and run to a far corner of the room. Place down a frost trap in front of you and stop attacking.

Up until you position him you are susceptible to mind control, stay at LEAST 30 yards away after positioning. By doing this it means you can use your casts (mostly kill command so your pet keeps aggro) if things go to hell you can feign to lose aggro. Once ready to start send in your pet and kill command so he'll take aggro. After this it's just a simple matter of watching your threat and DPSing him down.

Have fun completing the quest after RDF puggers skip it :)

so, as of patch 4.2 I'm not quite sure what happened like if it glitched or something, on my 54 bear specced druid, I managed to solo him, self healing once when I had 82 health left. No adds spawned, no blood had to be used, i just solo'd it. I'm not sure why it was just me and him unless it's changed. Pretty close fight though. Had to pop all my cd's twice to win plus a health potion. Was epic. I took a screen shot of me standing over his corpse in bearform dancing and set it as my background for comp.

Hakkar was notorious for demanding sacrifices from his followers. Many millennia ago, he instructed the Atal'ai to bring for this avatar, using blood ritually drained from living victims to feed him. The Atal'ai priests now seek to raise Hakkar's avatar with a modified version of this ritual, one that involves sacrificing green dragons. If the Atal'ai succeed, the re-emergence of Hakkar's avatar could spell doom for Azeroth.

So I unlocked flying in BFA today and the first thing I did was fly to the top of the tallest mountain in zuldazar and I found some skeletal remains that look VERY similar to this guy, interesting.........

It's a bit hard to solo this boss if you aren't killing him fast, he can Mind Control you and just like that he resets.

I like the part where you can't loot him after you kill him. Been leveling a bunch of alts during 100% XP bonus and I think ONE alt was able to loot him.

Yes Hunters, he is tameable as of pre-patch for Undead Hunters.

And also presumably for all Hunters once they obtain the tome.
