Zarhym spawns at exactly 53.38, 57.35 inside the cavern of lost spirits and has an almost identical appearance of Ghostly Skull

I wish i could downvote every comment on this guy. Not one of you give any useful information.

You go into a spirit world, he follows you around while you open chests (looking for his body). There are tons of ghosts around, I attacked one and was choked and sent out of the spirit world. And of course he was gone.

I have no idea why I was kicked out of spirit world and I have no idea what you get when you find his body.

Really irritating, I came across this guy and came here for help and there's not a single helpful comment.

Just like some others, I came here hoping to get a bit more information about what Zarhym is all about. Since there isn't much actual information about what happens when you click on him, I figured I would go ahead and at least post what happened to me. Hopefully it helps some of you.

He spawned in the cave, at around 53,57. There were two of us in my group. I clicked on him, and indicated I wanted to enter the spirit realm. A phase shift occurred, and only I was in the spirit realm -- my group member did not get in. Zarhym also disappeared from the cave, so the other person in my group wasn't able to enter the spirit realm - just me.

Once you are in the spirit realm, the inside of the cave is exactly the same, it's just hazy looking. But all the regular mobs are gone. Instead, there are mobs called Timeless Spirits floating around. These have a bluish/white circle of light surrounding them, that moves along with them. This is basically their aggro radius.

So the deal is this: You need to move through the cave, without getting into those circles of light surrounding the spirits. You're searching for treasure chests. They are bluish in color, fairly large, and pretty easy to spot. In fact, as soon as you enter the spirit world, just turn around and look before you start moving, and you'll probably see one or two. Zarhym will follow you around.

A timer also starts as soon as you enter the spirit realm. You have 5 minutes. I was able to open about 7 or 8 chests. In each one, were timeless coins (forget the amount, but somewhere around 10 to 20 coins, each). I didn't make it very far into the cave, as I was taking a very long time planning my steps, trying to avoid the Timeless Spirits as they drifted around.

I still had about 2.5 minutes left when I aggro'd one. It engaged me, and I tried to kill it. I didn't get a chance, as I was ported out of the spirit realm, and the fun was over. I'm not sure if I should have ran out of the aggro radius instead of trying to fight it --- but fighting it didn't work.

Obviously I didn't find Zarhym's body (or was it his head?) in any of the chests --- which is really the thing you're trying to do. But at least I got a couple hundred more coins, and will be better prepared next time.

i found this guy found his corpse got the achievement but still had to wait out the timer to get out so is there else am i suppose to do besides finding chests?

He reminds me a bit of the Talking Skull character from the old Nethergate game from Spiderweb Software. I don't know if Blizz intended this but I enjoy doing the quest in part because of a little nostalgia for old-school turn-based RPGs.

A blue arrow on my minimap? Spirit of Jadefire is up! Oh wait, no, it's just Zarhym. Again.

If you're having trouble doing the event, then don't loot any chests. I did this event 3 times today, purposefully running into the spirits to get "credit" for doing it today. (When you're farming the Spirit of Jadefire, getting rid of Zarhym's blue arrow is helpful.) It was only on the third go that I looted a chest, and Zarhym stopped respawning for me after that.

For rogues:
Stealth does not allow you to pass through the spirits' area ranges without detection, however, Vanish does work if you get aggro.

I completed the achievement on my rogue. I went back to do it on my DK but I couldn't talk to him. He was there but when I clicked, I got nothing. I'm not sure if you can only do it once or not. The guy/gal above me said they completed it 3 times. Do you mean you found his body 3 times or finished the 5 minutes 3 times?

It would seem that you can get your minion to aggro these mobs and in turn, remove their aggro radius and get them to ignore you. I was also able to feign death in the middle of their cast and wasn't ported out, so I was able to run around freely.

I just talked to this guy randomly while farming Shaohao rep. It then bugged me out underground, made me swim all the way through pandaria. Once I got to the Vale it disconnected me, I logged back in and spawned in Shrine of Seven stars (I'm horde) where I got into combat with the guards, who kept stunning/rooting me so I couldnt get out and just ended up killing me.

The RP dialogue that goes along with this encounter:

If you're near Zarhym when he's up, you'll hear him say:

Hey, meat sack! If you've got five minutes, come talk to me! I got no body!

His gossip dialogue when you find him:

Alright. I need some help... I'm lookin' for my body. It's somewhere in this cave, but you can only see it if you're in the spirit world. If you want to help me find it, let me know.

Be warned, though. The timeless spirits can kick us out of the spirit world, and I don't think I'm strong enough to get you back in there for a while if they do.

After this, players can respond with, "I'm ready to enter the spirit world." Make sure that you really are ready to go through before you start, because there is a limited amount of time to get to his body, and you will immediately be surrounded by spirits that stun you out of the spirit world. Some of them look impossible to move around, so it's a good idea to look up a video on someone going through it at least once before you go through yourself. As soon as you enter the spirit world, Zarhym says:

Good deal. Welcome to the spirit world. Kinda. Let's check out the chests for any goodies, and see if you can find my body somewhere!

The whole way through, Zarhym will make wise cracks that are related to his current state:

Zarhym says: I always wanted to play the organ.
Zarhym says: They didn't leave me with a leg to stand on!
Zarhym says: I know my jokes ain't so good... I lost my funny bone!
Zarhym says: Sometimes you gotta be sternum with unruly ghosts.
Zarhym says: Why don't I dance at parties? I have no body to dance w'it'!
Zarhym says: I'm not sure I have the stomach for this...
Zarhym says: I love you wit' every bone in my body!
Zarhym says: Say anythin', it won't get under my skin!
Zarhym says: I used to be more humerus.
Zarhym says: Who just called me a numbskull?
Zarhym says: I was bone to be wild!
Zarhym says: Sorry for ribbin' ya so much.

Eventually you get to his body, causing him to suddenly announce that he's having more fun as a disembodied spirit:

Wicked! You found my body! Look at them old bones.

I really thought I'd be more excited about this...

Know what? I don't even want 'em. I like being able to float around freely.

This NPC is for the achievement Zarhym Altogether. There are also some Spirit Chests containing Timeless Coins (once per day).

Some tips based on other comments (I did it back in MoP, but that was a long time ago!).
Preparation:

Do NOT click on the skull until you are prepared to spend the full five minutes it may take to get to his body (a pile of bones you can click on) at the end of the cave whilst dodging spirits that will boot you out of the spirit world if aggroed or attacked!
If you fail, you cannot try again today, even if the skull is up. There's a hidden tracking quest: "Tom" Bone Apart - Tracking Quest if you can't recall if you've done it today: type /run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(32962)) to see if you've completed it
If you are not on a class/race with stealth/invisibility/Shadow-meld/something to drop combat, bring an Invisibility potion such as Draenic Invisibility Potion for the last spirit, which does not move out the way (a bug, as it is supposed to), or a stack of Condensed Jademist.
Pet classes can set their pet to attack it and not get booted. Priest's Shadowfiend also works - druid's Treants might also work?
You can also speed past it using an ability or a potion.
Warlocks can pre-place their Demonic Circle, before starting the event, near where the bone pile spawns. Monks can use Transcendence
In remix, the Blink cogwheel will enable you to pass the last spirit (or Mage's Blink/Shimmer).
Bring a toy or three that can take aggro away from you, such as the Love Fool or Salyin Battle Banner and place the icon on your toolbar from your toy box. Rogues can use Vanish, Night Elves can Shadowmeld.
Large races, such as Taurens, may want to use Rime of the Time-Lost Mariner or similar to make it easier to see where you're going in the cave.
Watch a video beforehand so you understand what you're getting into, such as this one from @Shadowbathed or this one from @MimirsWellGuides, or this one from @Bodomi
The body, a pile of bones that you can click on, is at the end of the cave, up a spiralling walkway. I suggest you run through the cave, outside the spirit realm, if you're not familiar with the layout.

The event:

Only one person in a party can click/do it at a time. (The skull has a 7 minute or 1-2 hour respawn according to some comments.)
You can see how much time you have left from the buff Spirit World
The spirits move slowly, in a predictable route, so take your time planning your next move.
You can move out of range if you DO aggro a spirit and not get booted.
Some jump abilities can boot you out of the spirit world like Goblin Rocket Jump, and hunter's disengage
The final ghost does not move (it's a bug, apparently), so use your invisibility etc to get past it
If you DO get caught by it, use a toy to take aggro and click on the bones anyway before you get booted out. /way 53.4, 31.5 Pile of Bones
You can loot the chests after you've done the achievement, so I recommend doing that first and going back for any chests you've seen on the way back.

I'm assuming you're reading this because you've come across the skull and want to know what it is for. If not, it's in a cave to the North East of the Celestial Court /way 53.0, 56.9 Zarhym

If you're going for the Felcycle and don't see him again after losing the pet battle, go back to the Karazhan Catacombs and click on the Ghostly Brazier inside, don't have to go all the way down.

Ghostly Braizer is used to reset your character if you've lost the buff you get when you speak to Zarhym in the cave on Timeless Isle to enter the spirit realm, which is needed to solve orb 5 towards the secret Ratts' Revenge that rewards Incognitro, the Indecipherable Felcycle. You can find the whole guide here.

If you've looted anything in the cave while in spirit form and lost the buff that transforms you into a ghost you will not be able to re-enter spirit form when you speak to Zarhym again.
So if you're stuck on this step you can go back to the Karazhan catacombs and click the Ghostly Braizer to reset your character and it will allow you to enter the spirit realm again.

I was able to see him but not to talk to him, closed the game and reopened solved.

Would it have really been too much to ask blizz not to center the secret around this particular mechanic so we don't have to fly all the way back to Kara to reset it? I have spent two hours trying to do this because of either the stupid mechanics of the spirit world trapping me or the stupid mechanics of Jeremy's pets and the RNG it throws at me, nearly all of that time is spent flying back and forth to reset this f*cking thing.

The entrance to Karazhan Catacombs is in Deadwind Pass at /way 46.97, 69.09 Catacombs Entrance.
Don't forget to equip your Torch of Pyrreth to activate the 'door'.
The Ghostly Brazier is at the beginning of the spiralling staircase, right as you enter. Interact with it to reset Zarhym's daily lockout. Then go back to Timeless Isle and relog, which will make Zarhym intractable again. Reloading doesn't work, only relogging.

(Tip: You can buy this trinket Time-Lost Artifact from Mistweaver Ku for 7500 Timeless Coin if you have Emperor Shaohao - Honored, which can teleport you to Timeless Isle upon use with 1min cooldown.)
