The Siege Engine (this is the Alliance form, the Horde form is here) is the heaviest form of siege vehicle in Wintergrasp. It is quite slow moving and very slow turning and players running on foot can get infront of it pretty easily. Though what it lacks in speed it makes up for in hitpoints, having a massive 85k of them.

You need the First Lieutenant buff to aquire one from a seige workshop, but there are no requirements needed to hop into one that was already made.

It can carry up to 4 players: 1 Driver, 1 Turreter and 2 Passengers.

-The Driver controls the movements and the battering ram (this ram is more powerful than that on the Demolisher, doing 2000 Siege damage)

-The Turreter uses a 360 degree turret mounted on its top. Deals 1500 Siege damage, The turret is also good for self-defense since it's almost non-existent minimum range allows you to even fire at enemies who are running along attacking the vehicle from beneath

-The 2 Passengers can be carried along inside the Siege Engine's hold, though they cannot perform any actions (the passenger slots are more just so it can act as an armored transport, allowing troops to be carried into battle without worrying about turret fire and AoEs). The only real use this is is when doing suicide runs at a well-guarded keep door.

Note that the Turret is infact considered a different unit mounted ontop of the Siege Engine and can be hit seperately. Unless targetted specifically the turret is usually only damaged about 20k before the Siege Engine dies, and upon Siege Engine death the turret will also be destroyed.
~~Warning: If the Turret falls off DO NOT get into the turret slot again, you will not be protected by the Siege Engine and will take full damage~~. (edit: This is no longer really a problem since the turret now has ridiculously high HP, meaning that anyone who would attack the turret seperately is an idiot :P)

I STRONGLY suggest that you not even attempt to attack the enemy without a Turreter, you will be a big, slow moving target that can only hit back if it can spends the 3 seconds of turning to use the battering-ram.

In conclusion the Siege Engine is very good for attacking buildings, just make sure you have a few allies with you because a lone Siege Engine isn't very capable of mounting a useful siege.

I really think I need to ask this as no one in Wintergrasp had an answer for me. Is it possible to exit a Siege Engine once you hop in as a passenger? All I could do was change seats and I had no vehicle bar. I was forced to ride in the vehicle for pretty much the last 5 minutes of the battle doing nothing :(

I've been wondering something about the Siege tanks and demolishers. Do there cannons ( Flaming rocks or whatever they shoot. >_> ) do fire damage to players or just plain damage? Been wondering if fire resistance would do anything towards surviving turrents/siege engine gunners.

Check to make sure your vehicle bar is active...I have Bartender, and when I'm in the passenger slots, the vehicle bar does have an "exit vehicle" button. I once DID have an issue with, when I got disconnected, some bars (like the shaman totem bar, and the vehicle bar) got moved offscreen until I moved them back onscreen in the bartender configuration screen.

In response to the previous question about getting in and out of seige engines, you do so by clicking on the curved green arrow.

Apparently this is not well known, but you can be very effective operating a seige engine by yourself. Ramming generates about 2k damage and the turret 1300. That's right, you can hop from the driver's seat and operate the turret by yourself. The cooldown is much less for the turret so you can wack away with the 1300 damage and actually get more DPS that way. The ramming CD is MUCH longer.

HOWEVER, at the moment, there is a bug in that if you get out of the driver's seat and operate the turret, the programming assumes that the vehicle has been abandoned. Abandoned vehicles self-destruct after several seconds.

Until this bug is fixed, you can hop into the turret, fire about nine shots, then hop into the driver's seat, ram a few times, then hop into the turret again. I submitted a ticket on this because a vehicle that is occupied should obviously not be considered to be abandoned. The GM I spoke to told me they already know about the issue.
