Meryl is awesome and it's awesome that we're finally seeing him in-game.

He's undead, but he's not a Forsaken. Meryl died in the Troll Wars 2,800 years ago and raised himself from the dead with his own magic. He was a founding member of the Council of Tirisfal, and so has worked alongside every single Guardian of Tirisfal starting from the very first one, Alodi.

In the comic, Meryl was entrusted by Garona to watch over her son, Med'an. In Legion we also learn that Garona gave him her daggers to hide away back then too, which are the Assassination Rogue Artifacts. Meryl freed Valeera Sanguinar from the dreadlord Kathra'Natir, who was possessing her, by taking the demon inside his own body instead. But he's such a badass he didn't get possessed, and was able to hold back Kathra'Natir's will. Ever since then he's been traveling the world to find a way to get rid of Kathra'Natir for good.

This guy has some of the best poke dialog (where you poke an NPC repeatedly by clicking on them)

If, like me, you abandoned the Legion mage class quests years ago, later completed The Deadwind Site and Daio the Decrepit, and then could not find Meryl where the minimap says he is, I found him at /way 71.6, 54.2, standing on a bed. The minimap did not have him pinned in the right place.

Ah yes, when I'm feeling ill I always stand up in bed, puke on my feet, and lay back down again ad nauseum.

I came here trying to figure out how to cure him, poor guy. I feel like the quest chain may be busted because of Chromie time? Or do we never get to heal him? I took a quest item from Ari to Khadgar and all he said was it was the wrong book. No new quest! /facepalm
