Patch 4.2 Firelands Preview
Patch 4.1 has only been live for a day, but 4.2 is being given some love right now from Blizzard. It looks like they're sticking to their promise of more frequent patches and content releases. They've just posted two preview videos of the upcoming content, including the new Firelands raid and

Blizzard Posts on Cataclysm Raid Content: Is It Too Inaccessible?
Some fresh new Blizzard posts today discussing the accessibility and difficulty of Cataclysm raid content. While I'm sure most of this will be immediately dismissed as "casuals whining, lol" the posters do bring up some valid points and the Blizzard posters provide some excellent and thought-out answers. Not everyone is in a big guild, or can commit the time to meet certain raiding expectations - is Cataclysm content not intended for them? If not, what content is? Remember when it was the
mobs
who got buffed in raid dungeons (
Chill of the Throne
or
Sunwell Radiance
, anyone)?
How do you feel about the current state of Cataclysm raid content? Too hard? Too easy? TOO SOON?
Check out the Blizzard posts after the break and let us know what you think!

Changes to Valor Points and "Heroic Dailies" in Patch 4.1
Blizzard poster Lylirra has just revealed some details about the upcoming changes to the "daily" dungeon system and documents the new procedures for earning Valor Points this way. You can check out the full Blizzard posts after the break, but the basic rundown is:
You can earn
up to
980 VP per week from random Heroic dungeons.
Of that 980 VP, only 490 VP can be earned from tier 1 Cataclysm Heroics. The remaining 490 VP must be earned by running Rise of the Zandalari Heroics (tier 2).
Alternatively, you can reach the 980 VP cap exclusively by running tier 2 Heroics.
The 980 VP you can earn from running tier 1 and tier 2 random Heroic dungeons will count towards your weekly overall cap of 1250 VP.
And, as stated before, if you want to maximize your VP gains, you can still reach the overall weekly cap of 1250 by defeating raid level content.
What do you think? Personally, I'll enjoy being able to run all of my Heroics on a day that I can dedicate the time rather than sitting in queues every day, but how do you think this will affect Dungeon Finder queue dura

New Ghostcrawler Blog: Raid Progress
In his latest developer blog, Ghostcrawler talks about progression raiding. Aptly timed after some hotfixes to Cataclysm encounters last night, he addresses what Blizzard feels is the right and wrong way to strike balance in the heart of their raiding players. His major argument is that content is always being nerfed--whether through the raiders themselves acquiring better gear or Blizzard developers retuning encounters after their release. Moreover, he feels that everything is going as expected as this level of content starts to wrap up, citing pick-up groups on servers and guilds attempting encounters as positive signs that the first set of Cataclysm raids were a success.
Check out his thoughts on the state of raiding, progression, and the balancing act that ultimately comes into play with each set of new PvE content after the break.

Blizzard Says Putting Firelands in 4.1 Would Be "Too Soon!"
Just a quick Blizzard confirmation on the news we reported last night regarding a recent interview with Eurogamer.net at GDC, in which Blizzard stated that the Firelands raid would not be included in the upcoming patch 4.1!
Check out the original report here!
We will instead be seeing the Firelands raid added as part of patch
4.2
.
By now you’ve seen that the redesigned Heroic five-player dungeon versions of Zul'Aman and Zul'Gurub are on the PTR, featuring all-new boss mechanics, updated epic-level loot, and some rare mounts for players to try to tame.
You may be asking, "where's Firelands?”
Our goal with each major patch release, and especially with each expansion, is to learn from the past and use that knowledge to improve the game as we move forward. One of our biggest regrets in the pacing of Wrath of the Lich King was the Crusaders' Coliseum. The Trial of the Champion 10- and 25-player raid was released while many raiders were still busy with Ulduar, which meant a premature end to Ulduar raiding -- an

Firelands Raid Not Coming in Patch 4.1
According to a post over at Eurogamer.net it seems Blizzard has decided to release patches more often and Firelands will
not
be in 4.1. Blizzard hasn't said anything official on this but the good news is that they want to push new features sooner, rather than waiting for huge content patches like we are currently used to.

BFF Report - Cataclysm 4.1 - Zul'Gurub
Oh look, Blizzard is rehashing old content again.. or are they? I know that ZG is a "kind of a big deal" and the fact that its back is right up there on the "bigdealness" scale, so I decided to throw together a nice dungeon guide for those that are looking forward to it.. and for the noobs that can't not stand in things that kill you for some reason..
Since it's dropping prettydangcloseto raid quality gear, will those of you who aren't raiding yet focus on farming up ZG and ZA, or will you just skip it and get right to 10/25s?
Overall, how do you guys think it compares to OG ZG?

Attacking forces will receive a 200% capture speed bonus when they control 2 keeps.
Defending forces will receive a 200% capture speed bonus when they control all 3 keeps.
Normal PvE helms (item level 359) no longer have a chance to drop from Nefarian or Cho'gall on Heroic difficulty.
