Wowhead Exclusive: Level 80 (85?) Elite Tauren Chieftain NEW SONG, "Warriors of Azeroth"
So since there were a ton of other media outlets present at the Cataclysm Launch Event, I was convinced that someone else would have a fancy professional video of this up long before I had the opportunity to do it myself, but It's 5:30 and I still don't see any other videos. So, here it is!
The Artist Formerly Known As Level 80 Elite Tauren Chieftain has written a new song!
This one is dedicated to all the

This is a

Guild Achievements No Longer Reward Guild XP
Nethaera posted on the official forums a little while ago to let us know that
guild achievements no longer reward guild experience.
This is a pretty significant nerf, since guild experience is capped on a daily basis—and up until recently, guild achievements were able to reward experience bonuses
above and beyond
the daily cap.
It looks like the result of this was that guilds were leveling a lot faster than Blizzard intended. See the the full post after the break.

First Round of Cataclysm Hotfixes Now Live!
Blizzard have just released yet another (huge) batch of hotfixes for patch 4.0.3a, addressing post-Cataclysm release bugs. Many specific quest issues were addressed with this patch, so if you were experiencing any problems check to see if it's been resolved! Not too many major changes, though if you were wasting time killing the opposing faction's flight trainer instead of bothering to experience new content, Blizzard has made it a bit tougher for you.
Check out a detailed list of hotfixes after the break!

Cataclysm Launch Event Gallery
So I'm home from the Cataclysm Launch Event!
it was a great time last night, lots of people there. One person said there were over 9000—but I realized later that may have been a joke. I even saw a lot of people who I had seen two years ago at the Wrath release event—I even ran into John Finch, the guy who was first in line last year. He said he'd arrived 48 hours before, and was still only 20th in line.
Once again, I want to thank Blizzard for NOT being the kind of company who tries to create buzz by not having enough copies of the game at launch. I wasn't there until about 7pm, and I still got a Collector's Edition. :)
This whole process has been kind of nostalgic for me, because for those of you who've been with us for a while, you may know that our discussion and picture gallery of the original Wrath launch event two years ago was actually our very
first
set
of blog posts. So with that in mind, I leave you now as I left you then, with the most important part of the whole process:

Player and Guild Experience Changes in Cataclysm
Blizzard has made some posts clarifying some of the new experience mechanics in Cataclysm. Firstly, (as intended)
guild experience will be capped on a per-day basis
, meaning that your guild will not gain experience after a certain point until the next day. Apparently, the EU realms went live without the cap enabled, but corrective measures were taken and guild experience was reset for some guilds.
Secondly,
once you reach the max-level for an expansion, you will only gain 10% experience from killing NPCs from that expansion.
In other words, once you hit 80, there will be no AoE grinding of squishies in Northrend to try to level to 82 or higher. You can still get full experience for
quests
, but you'll need to move on to the Cataclysm zones to get full experience from NPCs.

Things To Do Now That the World is Destroyed: Get New Companion Pets!
So, apparently Deathwing coming out of the ground and destroying everything turned out to be one of the
best things to ever happen
to the World of Warcraft. It's kind of a strange way to look at things, with the paths of destruction in many zones, and the mounting tensions between even our own faction leaders, but as a player I can't help but feel like most things got pretty damn awesome. The new zones look phenomenal, the new quests / zones are more involved and storyline driven than ever before - even though I can't help but feel weird, it's like sitting in my room waiting for the apocalypse because I think it's going to be as awesome as
Fallout 3
or something.
In the last week before the actual Cataclysm comes, there's already once again much to do that most players may not be able to make time for until after their actual Cataclysm plans (such as leveling to 85, leveling a goblin/worgen, etc.). It's okay - because the
time is now
! I've been playing World of Warcraft more this past week than I have in months, and I just wanted to let you guys in on some of the awesome things to do before Cataclysm hits and it's back to the gr

New Round of Patch 4.0.3a Bugfixes Now Live!
In case you were wondering what your Launcher might have been downloading, Blizzard has released a new round of bugfixes for patch 4.0.3a to fix a few pressing issues. The most notable change include fixes to the requirements for
Ashenvale Quests
and
Un'Goro Crater Quests
so that they can actually be completed by both factions - future Loremasters rejoice! Other important changes include a nerf to the
Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat
obtainable from the new cooking daily reward bag - sorry twinks, the +40 Stamina / +40 Spirit has been drastically reduced to a +3 Stamina / +3 Spirit bonus. And speaking of fish - players will no longer be able to catch Cataclysm fish until they actually
have

Cataclysm: New Dungeons & Raids Preview
We recently previewed the upcoming
Cataclysm zones
, where we showed off the awesome new zones players will be able to experience in less than a week. We've not only got awesome zones such as Uldum, Kezan and Vashj'ir to look forward to, but many of these new zones feature new dungeons and raids as well! Cataclysm will ship with eight new dungeons, two upgraded Heroic versions of classic dungeons, and four new raids (with more being released in later patches). These dungeons will (of course) feature both normal and heroic versions, with raid encounters offering unlockable encounter-specific difficulty toggling. These raids will support the Flexible Lock System (
detailed here

), allowing players to adjust raid sizing as necessary.
We've already seen quite a bit of new dungeon loot courtesy of the Cataclysm Beta, and there are many new items which can be purchased from vendors (including Tier 11 pieces!) using the new Justice Points and Valor Points curren
