This new installer has been available for several months now.
this "recent" update has been around for a little more than 3 months now. it would be nice to have it in the battle.net launcher though since it is easy to forget that this game exists
Now if we can get a modern version of Warcraft and Warcraft 2.... That would be fantastic!
This already existed. It's not new. (I did an installation on my laptop about 8 weeks ago and it used this style of installer.) It's updated slightly, but completely new. This is the same installer mechanism that Starcraft uses also (as noted in the article). Notably, though, WC3 had this newer installer in addition to the previous one. The installer ran the old one by default, but the new one was in the directory with it side by side.

This is very old news. Anyone who is a hardcore fan should already know this.At least the news is getting out to more people! Hopefully it will draw more players in. :D

Everybody the reason it’s “news” is because they have an event coming up for this game. People are suspecting it will be the announcement of the updated graphics version similar to the recent StarCraft remaster. So this isn’t “news” but it is supportive evidence that this game is having some work done on it. Also in a game over 10 years old I think “recent” is easy to say within the last 9 months. Especially when it had nothing in the last 10+ years until last april
I've literally known about this for months, since last year, even before the ptr. Been using it as evidence since then for a Warcraft 3 remaster, before people were talking about it seriously. Kinda salty someone who just found it get's the credit lol. I mean, I've installed the game over 10 times for sure, never seen the modern blizzard UI. Definately surprised me, I know exactly what it really looks like, so when I saw this I was really excited.
