Now that I have rank 40, I will let you know a secret I found while playing: When the pieces of hate appear, "gold boss," grab him and kite to the nearest storm. Enter the storm with him; it will die in under 10 seconds. While you are in the storm, you will have enough time to loot the gold chest. This way, no one will follow you in or see you do it.
It may be an unpopular opinion they could implement a 2-3 min grace period per match for the non-PVP'ers. Meaning the first 2-3 mins there is no PVP allowing people to complete that quest for that round. You have to die or win to get your loot (bounty) but it would not matter because ppl would be ok with it if they getting 300+ rep per match.
If you do not want to PVP, it is not hard to escape fights; it is almost laughable how easy it is to disengage another player. I do this while typing to make them more mad. My goal was to simply collect 500+ /writs repeat.
I would also add that you don't know what quest you will get until you drop
After your initial farm in your drop area, it may be useful to follow the World boss that tries to kill everything. Hence there will be a trail of plunder that you can simply pick up. You don't have to engage the boss to get this.
I do hate this mode with a passion but want to try to get the rewards so appreciate this post, however I’m not afraid of pvp or am particularly bad at it, it’s just not a play style I enjoy. And with low levels of my abilities I find I don’t last long, so it’s good to have other options.I’d call it more a guide for pacifists. I ain’t scared. Just don’t wanna fight you.
IDK about scaredy Cat but I call it my Rat Strat, I literally go out to find the movement type abilities like the shadowstep n the spirit fae ability, I combine those two with the traps n the bush ability if I get either one as well as the Fire whirl or any cc ability to help me run, either way my Rat Strat be paying off as sometimes I get lucky n place in the top 10, I pvped a few time n placed second a few times but I do have fun with the rat strat cause while folks fighting n lowing each other health I just pop in with the fire whirl n kill both, its quite funny in fun but like I said its being a Rat but as I said i'm not afraid of pvping especially if I can get some laughter n enjoyment out of it.
If it was a Battle Royal, with PvP as the main goal, you wouldn't up the renown via plunder, or have a lot of mogs, pets, mounts as rewards (which most PvP players don't care about). We all know why they put rewards in the mode...I speak for myself, but I did it for the rewards, without rewards, I might not have even tried it. For me it was like farming an "old" reputation, killing mobs, looting items but on a PvP realm. Not very fun, but not as bad as some might say. Got 40 today, won't plunder again !This guide will help more people than a PvP guide for Plunderstorm
This guide is pretty much what I've learned to do, get quest done and pick up as much loot as possible while hugging the storm. I hate PvP with every fiber of my being, but I keep trying, to no avail. Not sure if I suck at it because I hate it, or I hate it because I suck at it. Regardless, with hours of playing I *just* hit lvl 10. I have not been able to kill even one single player. In fact, I mostly am getting one shotted right away. Last night I fought back and the guy turned and ran. I thought I might finally be able to kill another player, but he jumped into the Alliance camp and disappeared. One game I got to #2 because I was able to hide. Tried to kill the last person and got one shotted. Hard to "get good at it" when you can't stay alive long enough to get anywhere. Do you get rewarded any plunder for being one of the last few to survive? I couldn't tell, too busy trying not to die. If not, I would kindly suggest Blizzard think about adding it. Not everyone likes, or is good at, PvP. This could be for those who are good at other things.Update: I finally killed another player. Go me!
Man up and fight. You'll lose faster to someone that pvp's than afk'ing in the storm
Can you leave a match once you die or do you need to Spectate to keep your plunder?
Really hope they make it so unless you get 10th or below you only keep 75% of all your coins at the end. Easy solution to screw with the people who refuse to actually participate and just pve farm and die to the storm.
this is execelent explaind I done pritty mutch the same and are renoven 40 today :) ty ty not everything in plunder is about killing ppltho i love the hide in a bush thing when 10 ppl left :D I got 2 place a few times and then run in too the storm :)
Just like the forums, this comment section proves why the vast majority of players hates pvpers.
Fastest way to get renown is by killing players? I'd be less inclined to believe that when WoWhead often works with Blizzard who purposefully buffed plunder from players to promote PvP. If players are just doing the quest and killing themselves, it doesn't look so good for statistics, but that's still the fastest way to level renown. If you get an easy quest and are lucky with chests in your area, you can hit 350-500 renown in under 60 seconds and then just die to repeat. You might spend longer in the waiting area between matches. Meanwhile, if you get into a match with players who spread out, you might spend 5 minutes trying to chase down one player. I've had matches where I chose to spice things up a bit and run around a little longer to try to get more plunder, but I just end up wasting my time. Spending 60 seconds to get 350 plunder and requeuing is faster than spending 5 minutes to get 500 plunder. If I wanted to spend 5 minutes for plunder, to meet the same rate I'd get for 350 plunder, I'd have to get 1750 plunder in that 5 minutes. I'd have to get 1050 plunder in 3 minutes. Not worth it unless you have the 800 daily quest or you're actively PvPing. Just do the quest and die. Even if you toss in maybe 30 seconds in the waiting area, I'd have to make 1283 plunder in 5 minutes to make a longer game worthwhile or 816 plunder in 3 minutes to match the rate of 350 plunder in about 90 seconds. By now, players know the good spots and will go after the gold chests when spotted. Again, not worth it. Doing the quest and dying is still the fastest. Blizzard would have to buff non-quest plunder drops from mobs, chests, and out in the open world to make it more lucrative to actually live longer than maybe 60 seconds.Harldan on Youtube actually did his own tests on best renown gains after the plunder hotfix. Even he admits the finish the quest and die route is the fastest. I'd be more inclined to believe him over WoWhead on which method is fastest. That method also stands as the "friendliest" for PvE players. While boring and repetitive, it beats staying in Plunderstorm for any longer than you have to and hoping you get lucky by playing a leech to up your plunder per match.WoWhead certainly has reason to try to get players to be more engaged with Plunderstorm due to their relationship with Blizzard and with the creator match coming Saturday, but unless Blizzard does any more plunder hotfixes, the most PvE friendly route is just do the quest and die as fast as possible. Don't waste your time doing anything else. You'll be stuck in Plunderstorm for potentially hours longer than you may want to be if you do.
