God, I hope it's just "do X within the timelimit" and not "be the first".I've only ever seen the STV fishing tournament up once in the 16 years I've been playing because it's locked to a time when I'm sleeping. That's bad enough without worrying about the competition of it.

I still have ptsd from winning fishing tournament 3 times in classic and 2 times in cata. I dont want stuff like this again. Also it will be impossible with the current bugs active since 10.1 where fishing skill is completely ignored and you only catch up junk.
Would love it if this made it to live! I'm still doing the Stranglethorn Tourney for fun, but a new tournament would be awesome!

It would be nice if Blizzard would consider finally revamping fishing that we've had ever since Vanilla. It's plain and boring. Giving players the possibility of catching fishes or random things while they afk in specific contested areas would be interesting while people are waiting on their LFG que. Mini game wouldn't be a bad idea neither. It sucks to see the same things over and over again without any change simply having another filler content without any real meaning. The excuse of botters isn't relevant anymore since they haven't been able to do anything about any of them for the last few years.
as an "angler main" winning the Straglethorn extravaganza 8 times in total (retail and classic) I really hope that with the new era of wow they wont go for another tournament in the old style. once a week at such a specific time and then you are super rng dependent on where you fish, who is around you, who is also competing this week, etc. Also the toxicity of sitting inside the swarms with the expedition yak mount and stuff like that made the tournament such an unfun stress event for the 15-20 minutes it took every week. should be a nice and chill event on saturdays with a duration of maybe like 20 minutes to finish with achievement and rewards and then another 3-4 hours where you can fish up some fun items, like in classic with the thread, hat and green boots (I recall).Also: rework fishing, make fishing hats part of the profession gear and make double-clicking water to fish baseline!
Man I really hope they make it happen at night sometime during the week too.Playing wow during the day when you’re an adult is like drinking during the day. No one will let you do it lol. (Family. Kids)
I remember when I won the Northrend Fishing event and was immediately whispered and cursed at then promptly ignored. Good times.
