Can ya make an option for that little badge on your avatar not to show? It's kinda annoying due to blocking some of the avatar :P
I actually want to ask something, seeing how we now know that this is being monitored.Do you honestly intend to stop at this? Will paying a monthly fee always be a choice, and not something that is manditory to get what we have been getting thus far on wowhead? I come onto wowhead to find out how to do certain quests, to work on a talent build, and share ideas in the forums. If you have considerable success with this "wowhead premium" idea, are you willing to increase the gap between the "payers" and the "non-payers" even more for more money?
I like the idea as long as it doesn't end up being a Fileplanet quality of service thing, where the free users get the short end of the stick through unnecessary measures (artificial download wait timers with ad slideshows and the such). The content should be available to all in equal quality, basically wagging the subscription in the user's face and saying "sign up for Premium and I'll stop annoying you!" would be the worst way to go about this.As long as the Premium membership retains its purpose as a way to show your support for the site and get a few extra benefits, it's fine. It's when the site becomes unusable to non-premium members is where the line is crossed and many people will just migrate to one of the alternatives. I trust the staff to have enough responsibility though to handle it well, unlike the IGN and Fileplanet networks did C:

I appreciate greatly that this is not a mandatory fee for access. While I do enjoy your using your item database and your contest/news updates, I could very easily survive with my ingame item database addons and other wow news sites.Besides, as a Firefox user, I get the pleasure of an ad-free environment without any form of additional payment anyway so the main draw for this service (imo) simply isn't there.
You guys do realize that adblock takes away from Wowhead's revenue, right?
Strictly speaking, I don't have a problem with it. It's not affecting me at all. It's just, of all the WoW sites on the interwebz, Wowhead was the last one I expected to start doing freemium stuff. While I don't think you'll actually move free tools to premium users, I have a hunch all your new tools will either be premium only or have substantial benefits for premium users.Personally, I've never actually used Wowhead for much more than a database and a forum, and while the captcha is annoying, Adblock is legal and easy to obtain. Not a bad idea, but I forsee a downhill plunge later on.
Thanks so much for all your hard work guys.
AHAH, So then I was correct my dear friend Malgayne. I was correct when I said those borders page stickers were to do with the premium service.
When did everyone else become such experts on our finances, priorities, and the direction of the site in the future? Sillies. ;)Also, Malgayne's avatar makes me want to slap him IRL.
