definitely not :D
No. It most certainly hasn't. The introduction of the Trading Post alone made it the worst expansion for collectors. The countless boring world event systems and a lot of awfully time-gated achievements. The answer is no.
Worst xpack for collector (SL was bad too because of covenants)Too many little patch with annoying and time-consuming things to collectToo many timegateTrading post...
This expansion has been the only one where I have gotten more toys, pets and mounts during the current expansion than I have any other. So absolutely its the best from my experience.
You forgot to add https://www.wowhead.com/news/patch-10-1-7-bringing-back-open-world-transmogs-lost-to-cataclysm-zone-drops-and-334770
It hasn't been great for (mount) collectors honestly. The Trading Post sometimes having 2 or 3 mounts on it basically locks us out of spending Tender on anything else above 200 tenders. The X45 Heartbreaker "fix" was a spit in the face. It doesn't actually stop people from farming it with alt armies, it just adds extra disappointment when it doesn't drop on your first.Having a new world event every patch has been awful for collectors that joined later in Dragonflight. Nobody does Grand Hunts or Storm's Fury anymore.Karokta and Breezebiter were pains to farm. Karokta because it isn't soloable and every patch it's been made harder and more annoying instead of easier. Breezebiter, although spammable, can only be looted by 5 people at a time which makes it unsharable in communities, unlike Karokta. And might I add that so many collection related things were bugged or simply not added until later in the patch? 3 of the 4 Iskaara mounts weren't fully implemented when DF launched. The Otto secret was only half implemented. The Magmashell mount was missing the key item it needed, it simply wasn't added. Or how we had to wait 6 months for them to finally realize "Hey, the Cliffside Wylderdrake Black Hair manuscript IS actually bugged!" when we had been saying that for months. It's been frustrating, and downright insulting at times how atleast mounts and manuscripts have been treated in Dragonflight. I can only hope for improvements in TWW.One big plus I can share is that the amount of mounts added in DF is a much more favorable number than the amount added in Shadowlands. Shadowlands had way too much, from increasingly annoying sources. DF has a good amount of mounts.
Many collectors left their journey after feeling that the hard work they did to get things and the excitement of getting special things got betrayed. So.. this expansion was an apocalypsis for many of us
Honestly it's been a mixed bag. There's been so much to collect, my dfa score has soared, but things like the profession knowledge grind has made unlocking every recipe and mog from them a bit of a chore. I have no clue how profession knowledge will go in WW, but I've got it in mind to try and at least unlock all the profession mogs before then (or buy them on alts with the s1 sparks from helpfu work orders) Azerothian Archives is just not fun though. I've done one big dig and it's just... a slog. There's nothing interesting or exciting, it takes a set amount of time, you can't work harder to get better things... it's just a bit meh. The associated world quests seem to be bugged for me, or I can't understand how to do them. I can't interact with anything in the area, I don't get an extra action button or item like I did in the tutorials so... I've just decided to ignore them. The real winner for me has been the ability to unlock Heroic mogs in Normal, and Mythic mogs in Heroic raids, which has meant my alts finally have a chance to get some mogs in the expansion/tier that counts, and the crucible allowing us to get last season's mogs for free, what a great system.
if the new love rocket bad luck protection RETROACTIVELY counted all previous years attempts, a bunch of us old vets would have gotten it by now. can you imagine farming something with 50 alts every year for 14 years and NOT have it yet?
It's better than Battle for Azeroth and Shadowlands but best? Nah.
Not at all. For me it was one of the most boring expansions. World events where kind of useless and all the same. All the content was kind of irrelevant. I was a passionated player until dragonflight. sl was already a disappointment, but df killed it. I am afraid i am one of the players that liked it if there is content you have to do. I liked it that some mounts where really really rare for whatever reasons. But it is gone now. Still hoping for a change, but i think WoW is no longer for people like me.
I love Mythic+ raiding
The drop chance changes have been great but almost none of the mounts have been fun or rewarding to obtain. All of the good looking mounts have been put in the store. The only other expansion that felt this bad to collect mounts was WoD and even that had some cool raid mounts
I feel there's been way too much to collect this expansion, the sheer numbers of new pets, toys, mounts and cosmetic appearances has been overwhelming. Collectibles should be fun things that you can chase when you have a few moments spare, not the main focus of the game.
I think, that if we count out the trading post, Dragonflight actually has been the best expansion when it comes to collecting. And I'm not talking about the items, but collecting as an activity. Oh, and I'm gonna talk mainly mounts, not toys and pets, just to make that clear. Most of the mounts (We can only exclude Breezebiter and Karokta here) are actually quite easy and straight forward to obtain. The direction is clear, the grinds are clear, and the restrictions as in how to obtain mounts is clear. This is a breath of fresh air, if we come from Shadowlands where rare drops needed tons of restrictions to be able to loot them, plus the mounts being locked behind RNG.They are also taking a step back from abysmal drop rates in general. You can't argue that the mounts we've been receiving, have normal drop rates. And if you by any chance, don't hit that drop chance, you can always purchase the mounts from the vendors (Time rift mounts and seed mounts). So yes, to summarize the 'farming' - yes, it's a step in the right direction for sure. Now, let's tackle the bad side, which I hate with a passion. The mount quality in Dragonflight, has been the worst since the game's existence. For crying out loud, we are in a Dragonflight expansion, with tons of amazing dragons, and we're receiving ugly mammoths, ugly shalewings, otters and slugs. The only 'creative' one for me is the raptor / talon from the Emerald dream, and even that one shares the rig with millions of raptors already in the game. The keystone master mounts have actually been horrendous, which if we compare them to Shadowlands ones, is a night and day difference. Despite SL mounts being atrocious in a sense of farming, the models were great. Dragonflight ones, exactly the opposite. So yes, I really hope we continue this trend of how to obtain them, but I hope they will put more effort in the actual items.
regarding mounts quality it is one of the worst, no love to mounts besides the shop / promotional mounts, regarding programs like twitch drops / amazon prime loot, returning unnobtainable - it is the best and hopefully we make it even more cool in the future.PS: in regards quantity of mounts it is ok.
It's cool that they made it easier to obtain some of the rare mounts, but at the same time, it loses the charm and value they once held.
At launch, Dragonflight was great, not just for collectors. The developers took the criticism of Shadowlands, and the Zereth Mortis rep grind for double legendaries or unlocking the rank 7 recipe for crafters in particular, to heart. There were fever items to collect, but the grind wasn’t all that bad. The Twelve Days of Mounts series from wowhead mostly contains mounts added in season 1 which shows how good things were back then.Sure, farming things like dragonriding customizations is still a pain, but it was more tolerable. It really felt like a nice side activity you would do if you needed a break from endgame or were just bored. Between collectibles and achievements, Dragonflight initially really was nice.Starting with 10.1, however, the developers reverted back to old habits. Suddenly, it was all about playing the game daily or weekly once again.Case in point: Sparks you need for crafting. In season 1 you just do a quest once every two weeks. No need to do anything else.In season 2? Farm 1500 rep points every week for A Worthy Ally just to get one half of a spark.Things went downhill from there, or is a mixed bag at best, just as the article explains. The Emerald Dream and Sylvia Whisperbloom were a pleasant surprise, though. Now there was an option to the grind. The developers need to add such an NPC to all zones in the future.
