While they're at it, remove Engineering as a Profession and implement it as a class instead.
While people might not use it that much these days, beginner players and people with no target healing skills need it to solve encounters like Valeithria Dreamwalker in Icecrown Citadel.
Just remove it, it hasn't been useful since... ever?
I think it's good to remove it. I mean you level it up, but then you don't really need it for anything.
I think removing First Aid is a bad idea!I play a Rogue and for the past two expansions I've used bandages to clear Icecrown Citadel's Dreamwalker encounter. The removing of First Aid will make it impossible (at least to my knowledge) to do the fight with a class that have no targeted healing spell. For all the comments saying, "You can just skip the fight". I know but there is transmogable loot from the boss that people might like to have.
Very disappointed if this is being removed, oh sure, it's not used in raiding, but there's an entire game outside of raids, sigh. Yes, I've rarely used them on my main in the last decade... my main is a priest. Strangely enough classes with good healing spells don't need it! When I'm on alts however... my melee classes in particular use it a lot, and when I started levelling a hunter to try the 7.3.5 changes it was very handy for topping off my pet's health without having to wait for mend pet to tick away slowly (and the first 12 lvls you don't have mend pet anyway). Small problem there - exactly how many melee players and hunters have tailoring? The classes most likely to have tailoring, well 1 in 3 is a priest, who'll never use it, 1 in 3 is a warlock, who have decent selfhealing most of the time, so that leaves mages who can actually make their own bandages for soloing. Everyone else would have to buy them, or, given they'll inevitably be ridiculously overpriced for lowbies to buy, will just not use them unless they happen to already have a tailor on the same server and faction. Also as people have pointed out, there's a dragon in Icecrown who has to be HEALED, and many classes can't do that without first aid. Now, ok, buying bandages is probably a tolerable option for that, but it still adds a level of annoyance when it's something every character could previously do. Never mind the RPG side of things, too many flavour things got removed already, and I don't see the need for this to be another one. What harm does it do to just leave it available for everyone?
I would like to see it revamped, for RPG proposes. I think first aid is completely useless, foods heals a lot more (out of combat) and I haven't used it for ages, even on low level alts.
If we're going by usefulness, then at least in Legion pretty much every profession except maybe Alchemy should be removed.
but if they remove it i will lose my healing spot in the raid team for my warrior...
I still actually use it all the time, I keep a 20stack of band aids on me at all times on all of my toons and it has more than saved my life several times even in legion. I will be pissed if they remove it for sure, and then I wont be able to get my field medic achievement.
totally useless since yearsand you can't keep something so big and useless just because of Valithria, face itand maybe it means they are adding a new secondary profession, who knows
Bandages should be a Heal over Time that doesn't get interrupted, then they can actually be properly used in combat.
I have one question for everyone freaking out and saying "But I still keep a stack of these in my bag and use them!" Do you not know about food? Its cheap if not free from quest mobs and it doesn't waste materials for a real profession (tailoring). It also literally does the exact same thing the "waste of resources" bandage does in practically the same amount of time, so, eat...and let First Aid finally die off.
I am ok with removing it IF the Tailors bandages are USEFUL (Like a Lock Rock)
I find it kind of sad how Blizzard seems utterly incapable of producing a decent crafting system. It feels like they're not even trying. Bringing story content to crafting in Legion was a nice (and welcomed) touch, but the crafting system itself, was an unpolished broken mess. I wish they'd actually work at producing a decent crafting system where you can take pride in leveling your profession and where craft items are actually useful and competitive with rewards from other sources.
Wow, great news. Remove first aid and inscripition, both useless. Herbalism, mining and skinning should be a passive skills... Somehow.
I think the biggest thing is that first aid hasnt really been relevant in a long time. Sure I currently use shot gun bandages on my engineer, in between pulls to top off a pesky dps... but, thats not my job.it has always been a pain in the ass on a tailor, to waste cloth on first aid, just to level it. it hurts... worse than ripping the band aid off.
I think it would be a shame to remove it. While I agree with the comments that it hasn’t been useful at max level for a couple expansions, I feel like the better course of action would be to make it useful again. Why not increase the effectiveness of bandages?
