and pvp servers r not just about ganking lowbies its about killing the other faction doesnt matter if there low or lvl 80
Who says it has to do with being flagged?
PVP servers are there for players who like the "real" world feel of the alliance and horde being at war. Bar that, its for people in top PVP gear to gank lowbies. Rewards from World PVP are far and few beween, BG/Arena is where the real PVPers play.
Liked the interview, glad to see the actual titans speak to the miserable races.About EvilChookie's post:He really got a bit far with blaming WoW and it's devs as well as advertising Guild Wars' traits. But his idea of dualistic abilities is good. I agree with GC that making every ability dualistic is too freaky. But making certain abilities like that "taunt" and other have some specific use in PvP might as well ease that "nightmare" the devs have. Vice versa, making counterspell be useful in PvE to...let's say increase ur spell resistance a lot for a few seconds would be good.
Yes, perhaps flagged wasn't the correct word to choose when talking about abilities that work differently. Perhaps we could say "tagged" or "marked". Would that help alleviate confusion?Just quickly, I am not interested in comparing the quality of the two games as a whole. That's not what my comparison was about. My point was that Guild Wars has both PvE and PvP components, just like WoW, and the developers are able to effectively balance both, without unbalancing the other. Unlike WoW.And as pointed out by others, many other games - as good as WoW or not - have managed this feat as well. Seems just plain laziness to me, Blizzard.
Having different components to PVP and PVE would balance the game, Blizzard don't want that! :PBut, judging from the whole "Removing green stats" (Att Pow, Def Rat, Hit Rat), Blizzard are just too concerned with "dumbing down" the entire game so they appeal to a wider base of people, and ergo, earn more cash. All I hear is "We're too lazy to balance the game, and too lazy to keep writing out green stats on gear."Unfortunatly, we can QQ and moan and get annoyed all we want, most people will still play WoW, and still buy and play Cata.
Well, with a lot of fails of WotLK and a lot of mechanics revamps in Cata, I guess it's not so stupid to call Cataclysm either a new dawn or the dusk of WoW.
Cataclysm will have the same effect as Wotlk. First few months, "Ohh shiny and new! Weeeeee!" Then, it'll turn into Wotlk. People QQ that the new level 82-85 moves are OP in arena, Blizzard will fix these things, then the new shiny moves we had will be useless. Then Blizzard will relize that, "Omg, people have cleared the first few raids, quick, rush to release another!"However, the only issue I have with Cata is the removal of green stats. What was the logic behind that? I mean, seriously? Blizzard worried that players can't perform simple maths to make sure they're capped?

Ghostcrawler: Yeah. Um...there are—it's funny, there are really mixed views on that on the team. Some are like well, why don't we just do it, people are asking for it? but then others are like, players say they want it, but do they really want it? Or are they just like, camping on a bunch of names for alts and stuff like that? Are they really playing all of those 10 characters pretty regularly? And I think where we left it is, we were going to do some pretty hardcore research to try and figure out how many players are really at that cap, and are they at that cap legitimately, or do they have like, six level ones they never play, or something like that.I usually don't comment, but this one i'll take a stab at. Personally I would like to see more characters per Realm. The realm i play on most i maxed out chars long ago...then when i want to play something different, i either have to delete them to make room for more, or switch to another realm to play. I have created as many as 49 toons (some have since been deleted, to make room for Cataclysm ones) and yes, I play them all regularly. Some of them may sit for a month or so without being touched, but then i go back to them and play. Especially if i'm bored with Northrend and want to do some Old World quests on a leveling toon. Another reason I have so many toons is because of the other mentioned problem by GC, I find out friends at work, or sometimes random people i meet play WoW. They tell me the server they play on and it's like "oh man, i'm not on that one" so i go home and make one. The biggest problem is that while I made a toon on their server to play, i'm at lvl 1 and they are most likely at 80. So then it is still a longer time to lvl up a toon to be able to play with that person.
IzuralBD, my reason is that...look - TBC was the natural upgrade of Vanilla. WotLK was natural upgrade to TBC. But Cata does not upgrade things - it changes them. And these changes will decide WoW's destiny. I may be wrong, and WoW can still live on either fans-forever(like me) or just new subscribers, but it's position as leading MMO will be over. The green stats issue is really troublesome. I wonder, why didnt Malgayne ask anything about it. Green stats provided a lot of item specializtions in TBC and WotLK...it's hardly imaginable WoW will survive just on this "Mastery" thing. That laziness you mentioned comes in mind here. Another question is - while they will ofc design new-conent stuff, what will happen to Northrend and Outland items? They are full of green stats, so are they ALL going to be remade, or just removed?
I WANT MY MOOSE!
Erm guys. This is not Blizzard suggestions forum. And even if the all-seeing Ghostcrawler will ever read ALL the comments here, it's not a good idea to flood suggestions. Also, stop quoting each other. Takes too much of the post-size.
This is true Wirxaw. I just got carried away XD.
