Did anyone else see Crabby?
Ok, is it just me or is this too much? I never really agreed with mods such as DBM and stuff like that (I'm not arrogant enough to say I don't use them cause I do)But this just makes the average player able to faceroll any boss. There should at least be some kind of requirement to gain all this info. Let's imagine for an example this, U go into a 3 phase fight like normal Ragnaros. Once u enter the first phase it would be unlocked in ur journal,U wouldn't be able to use it right away, and ur group could walk around and learn something on their own. Once u beat the 1st phase u would unlock the 2sd and so on. U would still have to go for a bit of trial and error, but be rewarded with valuable info for it.Another chance would be to unlock the different abilities as u get hit by them. Or by seeing the boss use them, sort of a learning skill that make's entries on the dungeon journal.Bad players will still fail even tho they know all the fight, but a decent raider will be able to react fast to a skill if he knows it beforehand. I believe learning and wiping on fights is half the fun, make's ur group that much better, and creates a healthy guild relation IMHO.But nevermind the ramblings of a mad man. Do carry on :3
The dungeon journal is a step in the right direction, I feel. It's something that educates a player and helps them Not Suck. Sure, Wowhead and sites like it are out there to do the same, but I find it more empowering to have easier, in-game access to this sort of thing. If a player wants additional information, including community feedback, they can then hit the web and see what's out there.Blizzard could do more to educate the player inside the game, while also promoting their fantastic community sites like Wowhead, WoW Insider, etc. WoW unwittingly has made the internet a somewhat more dangerous place, with phishing sites and the like hoping to lure curious (or clueless) players into a trap, where they can lose their account info (or worse, given the state of malware these days). More 'Blizzard approved' and 'safe' information or links inside the game, or as part of the official community portal, are invaluable.
Well my opinion was based on the fact that for me half the fun is learning the fight. Without resorting to fansites and strategy guides.I might use them later on after I have a grip on the basis of the fight, But before it just spoils my fun. But that's just me and a minority of players. The normal raider will still try to check online (or not since they can see all the info in the journal now.) My opinion is just that the info shouldn't be there right away, but should be gained in some way. The hardcores would feel no difference from this since theytend to be on the ptr and know fights beforehand, the casual can still search the same way, and the people who like to wipe and learn would feel rewarded. I can even Imagine achivements linked to the process of learning the bosses trough experience :pStill that's just me wanting my way of playing to be rewarded ^^ I know other kinds of players won't like this and I do agree that the Dungeon Journal is a step in the right direction, I just feel that there should be some way to gather this knowledge instead of it being available right of the bat.Edit: Edited some typos.

This is new O.o Looks great though.
For the comment about how people will still look up fights, as if this will be useless just because it tells you just the abilities, not so. Some people may still look up fights but this isn't useless and it's a nice in-game guide for people who don't want to watch an entire fight video. In the PTR I, and the pugs I went into Firelands with, solely used the dungeon guide to learn the fights and understood quite well. They break the pages up to show you what phases each ability is used in and at what points phases occur. And you need only know an ability's power to know how to react to it. If you see a move that does a large amount of damage split between people, you obviously have a stacking mechanic. If you have a stacking debuff on whoever the boss it hitting, bam! There's your tank-swap mechanic. It's easy, it just means that people who wish to use it will need to think a little. For how much the game hand-feeds everything to the players nowadays, I don't think a little brain power is asking much.
