Dust of Disappearance is currently (in beta) sold for 10g each by inscription vendors in all major cities. This will probably be the cheapest way to get it in the first few weeks or even months after Cataclysm release, as Blackfallow Ink will be in relatively short supply for a while.

Edit: Dust of Disappearance is also 10g each on live servers.

Level 80 and below version

Once you learn a glyph, your character will always know it. However, you will have to buy Dust of Disappearance to re-glyph a slot.

The pre-level 80 version of this item can be bought for 40 silver (without faction discounts) per 5 (that is 8 silver per piece) from the Inscription Suppliers such as this guy, in the Mage Quarter of Stormwind, in the part facing the canals and the Stockade.

Fun fact: The icon for this item is, at the time of this post, an icon for Dustwallow Marsh. It's most likely a placeholder.

Appears to be a big in this item. When I used it to swap an inscription it shows all of my inscriptions being empty. Also the ones from the second spec. As if I didn't learn ANY inscriptions anymore.
After relogging it turned to normal.

I love this stuff.
You can make about 1k a week by buying it from the Inscription Supplies and selling it on AH for 20g.

Any idea what category this goes under on the AH? I just tried to find it out of curiosity and it only showed up when I didn't have a category specified. I tried every single category and it only showed when none was selected.

On most realms, Scribes will be able to make this for much cheaper than the vendor price, so check the AH before you buy at the flat vendor fee.

How do you use this item?

I have a glyph in use, and I want to replace it with another glyph that my character knows. I have a Dust of Disappearance in my bag. I tried left-clicking, right-clicking, Shift+Left-clicking, and Shift+Right-clicking, 1 at a time, on the Dust and on the glyphs in the list of ones I know and on the active glyphs where they're shown, in various combinations, and nothing happened.

Is this a glitch I need to submit a ticket for, or is there just a different 'trick' to how to use it that I haven't figured out yet?

If you're interested in making really easy money then this is your item. Buying herbs/Blackfallow ink/Ashen pigments and turning them into these is almost always a 1-3g profit each (varying from server to server).

Always make the stack size 3. This is because people who buy this usually do it when they recently respecced and will then need to replace 3 Prime glyphs and probably 3 Major Glyphs. Also saves you a bit of time with posting and collecting.

It's a realy good alternative way of making gold with inscription.

Dust of Disappearance can be created through Inscription (Blackfallow Ink) and bought from a Inscription Supplies Vendor. The vendors sell them for about 8gold 75silver - 10gold depending on your reputation with the city you're currently in. The dust is used to switch glyphs in and out on your character. There is no need to buy the same glyph multiple times, for, once you learn the glyph you will always have it. The dust is new glyph system. If you're interested in buying some Dust, I would suggest checking the Auction House because you may find it cheaper there than from the vendor.

The price seems to have been reduced from vendors in 5.0.4, or I'm imagining things. They now sell for 40s 50c from my traveler's mammoth, and 33s 75c from the Inscription Supplies vendor in Stormwind (I am Revered with SW).

Found it at Julie Osworth for 40 s 50 c at the Argent Tournament Grounds. Not sure why she has it so cheap.

As of MoP, this item will not work on resetting individual talents if you are mounted.

It seems it is no longer usable, my character keeps asking for Tome of the Clear Mind, even though i have 14 of this dust in my bag.

Even though it says "Reserved for those level 81 or higher.", it's only usable up to level 85, after that you have to use Fel-Charred Tome
