Best tanking trinket for prot warrior!

Ok, I am using prot warrior because that is the type I play. Other tanking classes will probably benefit from this as well, just change some of the information in the macro I am going to give later in this post.
The BEST prot warrior trinket is....
Inherited Mark of Tyranny
. The resilience is totally useless for PVE content, but that isn't what we want. It is the 15% health increase that makes this the best tanking trinket in game from level 1-85.
Now consider, at level 38 (39?) you get
Last Stand
that increases your current health by 30% AND your maximum health by 30%.
Together with a level appropriate healing potion, this give an enormous health pool boost for 20 seconds and a HUGE self heal! Try it...
Copy and paste this macro
/use Inherited Mark of Tyranny
/cast Last Stand
/use Healing Potion
It's very simple, no tool tip, but it works! Just change "Healing Potion" for the appropriate potion for your level. Healing Potion, Major Healing Potion, Superior Healing Potion, etc. Be sure to always carry at least 1 stack at all time. 2 is even better.
That macro will also work in PVP, and will totally blow a rogues mind. They have you down to 20% and then BAM.. you are back up to like 90% health with 30% more health than you had at the start of the fight.
I was just in a pvp bg and used this macro, and I am sure the 2 rogues that I killed had a total WTF? moment when I went from 4k health to well over 6k (closer to 7). LOL

Fel has the better trinket choice for looming it up....after all, once your HP buff runs out, if you are still surrounded, yer gonna go splat.

There aren't good tank trinkets for warriors. You might have more success with trinkets from quests, but the pickings are pretty terrible during Wrath questing.
Both the heirloom trinkets are pretty bad. Haste is barely more useful than resilience in PvE, and it requires you to get the killing blows. The passive can be useful situationally, but I'd prefer to have a reliable emergency button, especially considering that sustained healing is not at all a priority for most leveling content, and the healing from the haste trinket is going to be very weak.

There is a point everyone is missing, that 20 second stam buff is usually enough to let A) healer catch up to the dmg you are taking or B) if healer is dead, to give you time to reduce the mobs health down to a level where you can then kill one and victory rush. I've use that method to solo large pulls in Barrens for the old weekly quest.
With swift hand trinket, you have to actually kill something to get the 2% health. I use that as my 2nd trinket,
If you have 4k health, and are down to 400 health, that 80 hp heal you get isnt going to help you much, but a 3k heal will do wonders. So going with 4k health, using my macro... 4k +15%= 4600 health, +30% (now about 1533hp) = 5533 health pool + 984hp from the potion ( level 35 superior healing potion) you have just gained 2517 health with one click. Plus your 400 you were down to 2917, nearly 75% of your original base health (assuming 4k for easy math).
so.. you get +80 extra health from killing a mob (swift hand x2) vs 2517 heal instantly PLUS the 40 (for killing a mob with swift hand x1)
You shouldn't be relying on the 2% heal from the swift hands to keep you up, the healer will do that, but for pure survivability.... The Mark of tyranny wins.

when i'm leveling a tank spec alt with heirlooms.
i'm usually the highest dps and quite often raking in the majority of the killing blows (especially with excute abilities avaible.) allowing
Forceful Hand of Justice
too proc a lot, and since you can easily often pull 2-4 groups at a time in heirloom gear (then the healers finally got too start earning their keep also). giving you more then enough targets too make the trinket a decent way too heal yourself up during it.
if you pull 1-2 packs at a time usually with heirlooms, you might as well use no trinkets since you're health will hardly ever drop below 50%.
Swift hand only heals when you actually kill a mob. If you die before killing a mob, it is a wasted trinket slot, isn't it?

agreed that they're both pretty poor and generally unneeded options when it comes too prot warriors.
i generally rather go with some dps trinket with crit/strenght that i might find from quests/drops while leveling.
but if i had too choose between the two trinkets. i had rather use Hand of Justice (2x), for the low 4% heal you get for every killing blow.
Unneeded? You must run with some very sissy prot warriors. Of course, if I am only pulling 3 to 7 at a time, I would hardly need that heal, face it, if you cant survive 7 mobs with a healer, you need to just delete your toon and roll a hunter.
What I am talking about, is pulling a room or gathering aggro on 30 mobs after a dps accidentally aggros additional groups. If you tank, you know what I mean. I've actually seen a dps stand still while a pack of mobs approached and aggroed him, even though I was pulling the current targets away from the adds. I then had to tank the mobs I had plus pick up the 2nd group.

Anyway... try it out. Use the macro and put the trinket to the test.

lol as stated, the resil is totally useless in pve, and not worth much in pvp at those low levels.
Admittedly, on their own, those trinkets both kind of suck, but used properly, mark of tyranny is a very powerful survival tool.(##RESPBREAK##)16##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##I'm not going to take the time to combine all of your posts into one right now because I'm heading out the door but please, in the future, click the 'Edit' button and add more content to your most recent post rather than making 4+ replies in a row. Until the extra health disappears, the healer is dead and the mobs eat your face. Between the Hand and Victory rush, you can keep yourself alive for a very long time even if the heals dies while fighting a massive mob pack.

felhunter, I wish I could give your post an upvote.
Pulling in a smart way, is a skill not many tanks possess. Its just run run run pull pull pull, lose los, die, blame healer. LOL.
What my original post was about, is pretty much on target with what you said about pulling smart and trinkets usually being unnecessary. But, for those times when you do need it, Mark of Tyranny is tops in my opinion. I've been a prot warrior for 4 yrs on my main tank toon, leveling a new prot warrior in pvp and pve, but I have actually leveled about 6-8 protection warriors. Mainly due to needing the Stay Classy achieve, so for fast leveling, I went prot warrior for each race. So like you, I have leveled prot before and know the class... fairly well.
Now during that time when your extra health is active... my 2nd trinket, swift hand also procs when a mob dies, but it procs for aprox 3.5% of my unbuffed health, since my base health during proc is roughly 175% of my base. (aprox. Currently at 4500 base hp, my trinket proc bring me just over 8200). What I was really saying about this trinket, in an ideal world, a tank shouldnt really need a trinket, with a decently geared and specced healer, and good dps players that know how to do more than point and click.
As a tank, you KNOW what i mean there... but for those time when you, as a tank are taking huge spike dmg and getting beat to death quickly, that macro with MoT, is a life saver. I use victory rush in my rotation, even if I dont need a heal, its habit.. 20 seconds is a long time in the avg fight, and you can bring mobs hp down a lot in that time, so afterward, you can pretty much just tab target, kill mob, victory rush, rinse and repeat. That is my reason for preferring the MoT plus a SHoJ over 2 swift hands.
And you probably are just as annoyed as I am about dps or even the healer pulling on their own. I dont mind them pulling TO me, but just pulling randomly bugs the HEdoublehockeysticks out of me.
It also works great in a boss fight, like say the healer dcs, and you only have one target, and no trash to kill to proc your SHoJ and victory rush.
So as I said, I wanted to post this as being a tanking trinket consideration, with the macro for people to try. They can pick which ever trinkets they like, according to preference and play style, but as a "FUBAR" button... I doubt any other trinket will beat MoT with the macro I gave.
