Dropping Alchemy?

Looking for some advice: I have 600 alchemy (along with 600 herbalism) on my 90 Warlock. However, I
never
make potions or use the skill for anything.
I am considering dropping alchemy for Inscription, since this is a skill that all of my characters will need at some point along the line. I have 600 JC/Mining on another character and he is able to fulfill the gem needs for all my characters, so I am thinking along the same line for Inscription.
Thoughts? Am I missing out on the value of alchemy?
No PVP or raiding for me, simply questing and leveling.
Thanks.

Inscription has always felt like the red-headed stepchild of professions in WOW. I haven't ever done the math, but I imagine the permanent stat boost of Inscription (shoulder enchant) is comparable to those found in every other major profession.
Every time I've considered trying Inscription I look through what it can do and basically end up with:
Personal stat boost (shoulder enchant) just like every profession has.
One-time consumables
Hearthstone scrolls
I think the only redeeming value
might
come from
if
you're (somehow) gold-starved and so
if
Inscription had better profit margins on your server it would be useful that way.
So Alchemy seems much better, but you're really not going to need
any
profession if you're not tackling the game's stronger challenges.

Right now, Herbalism has a 20% Haste boost every two minutes, which is massive. It also heals you. Even when questing, I use it. I understand that Herbalism is losing a component in WoD, and I think it is the Haste boost. I'll be sad to see it go.
In the meantime, Alchemy is still a big money earner, even during the final days (months) of MoP. It is true the value of potions, flasks, and transmutes have dropped as more and more Alchemists have the recipes, but I still make a few thousand gold every 2-3 days.
As mentioned above, Inscription only benefits you early in an expansion, and when content patches first launch. But as people get gear they aren't likely to replace in the near future (including yourself), it becomes a dead skill. A neat skill, but a dead one.
The original approach Blizzard took with Inscription, where glyphs were wiped as you replaced them, rather than being able to learn all of them and change at will like it is now, was a far better idea, and made Inscription a valid money maker. I miss those days...

Inscription is about to get crapped on in WoD. Poor choice. Alchemy hopefully will make the 'magic bars' for bs.
you should be at least selling your cooldown in trade for cash....shesh, 100+g a cooldown isn't bad for doing nothing but standing there and transmuting. And you should be Xmute or Elixir specialty to proc extra bars or elixirs/flasks.
People always say 'the money is in transmute' you know what I can do with flasks mid expansion? *giggle*
EDIT: also inscription shoulder stat boosts are going away and alchemists are keeping their personal flasks atm in beta.

So far there appears to be no transmuted bars in wod at all. Every prof have their own bop cd material. Ive heard a rumor that no alchemy spec procs at all in wod, prelude to them getting removed?
