Personally, and I'm just speaking for myself, not all of the other amazing DK's out there: I've found dual wielding frost has been my best option. Waaaaay back when no certain spec was designated for tank or dps, I was a blood dps. Wow, my numbers were low and that's being generous. In BC I'd been a hunter and a Demonology Lock so I was used to above average numbers. Blood DK'ing was NOT working for me.
Then my GM did something I think was unprecedented at the time: he transformed me into a frost dps. If you remember correctly, frost was the "unofficial" tanking spec. I'd never seen a frost dps before. But...I dove into the waters (hey, it couldn't hurt) and I actually amazed
myself
. This is before LFG and I'd catch flack from PUGS on my spec and I'd tell them, "Hey, if you don't like my numbers, I'll leave, but give me a chance."
Needless to say, they kept me. So here it is, years later and I'm still frost dps. So is everyone else, but hey, I'm no pioneer but I think I was on my tiny server. I have my GM and co-GM to thank for that: Holyblod and Razor. Without those two, I'd still be pulling crap numbers on the DK or I'd be a Demonology Warlock (which are hella fun).
My two cents! Good luck!

Blood dk's are only "weak" when it comes to single targets, at the moment their aoe is right up there. I use this gameplay on my tank, i just gather a load of mobs (20/30+) and aoe down. at the end of the day it comes down to your own playstyle. according to noxxic unholy has better dps around ilvl 502 than 2H frost but when it comes to ilvl 522 2H frost is better. it's whatever floats your boat, i love my dk for its simplicity not having to run around avoiding things you can practically stand there and suck it up, blood dk's are one of the only classes that can solo a warbringer without having to constantly kite. for this reason players may find the dk a little boring almost as if you are in god mode. also its much easier/faster to get a group as a tank.
I just saw another one of your posts and notice you are pvp, i too have recently done a bit of pvp but in pure pve gear what i noticed was, i wasnt dying, i would maybe die once in the whole match however i didn't kill either, to me it seems blood dk's are good for 1 thing only in pvp "flag carrying".

Instead of having several threads from the OP I've combined the threads' questions into this one.

And what is the best profession combo for dk?
Character Audit
7 unenchanted items
10 empty sockets in 7 items
Missing Living Steel Belt Buckle
Reforging
Mastery > Parry
Maybe this is left over from when you were Blood...but even in Blood you shouldn't be doing that usually.
Hit = +5.34%
Expertise = 4.43%/4.43%
Both should be at/near 7.5%
Rune of Lichbane on both weapons
For PvE they should be:
Rune of Razorice (main-hand)
Rune of the Fallen Crusader (off-hand)
Sooo... not great. But then you're only iLevel 472, I rarely bother gemming or enchanting stuff till I start getting gear from the current tier (ToT) since the gear gets changed out so quickly.
This is all for PvE too, I don't have any idea what is best for PvP though I would bet the first three (Character Audit/Reforging/Hit & Expertise) are the same between the two.
For Professions:
Engineering is the top profession due to its 1920 Strength bonus to gloves for 10 seconds every minute (320 strength average passive) which lines up nicely with Pillar of Frost, and frag belt, which is a 500 dps increase per target. Leatherworking, Alchemy, Enchanting, Blacksmithing, and Inscription are all on par giving 320 Strength.

Empty sockets is an easy first step. Making sure you're following your priority for attacks/abilities is even better.
If you're talking about PvP you're going to get out-iLvl'ed by folks in Conquest gear. Just try to be useful. If you're talking about PvE raiding, you're at the low-end of iLvl just barely high enough to get into early expansion LFR, so you're in there with others who are rocking 535 or so - no comparison.
Attack priority first, gemming next.

All 3 DPS specs are perfectly viable - any differences in their power are much less than the effect of player skill, so I would suggest trying them all for a while and seeing which rotation you like the feel of best, because in the end you'll probably get the best DPS with that one. For instance, one of the reasons I like Unholy is that the rotation is less affected by procs than Frost is, but that's just how I feel about it. Other people may prefer a bit more randomness, or like/dislike other aspects of the specs.
