What is so good about a Pally tank?

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone can give me an idea of why Pally tanks appears to be the best tanking class at the moment.
I have a Pally and DK tank but I feel more comfortable with my DK tank, "feeling" that my Pally tank is a bit squishy and have lower threats generation.
Perhaps I am doing something wrong but I believe the main idea is to generate holy power and use SotR to reduce damage taken.
However, I seemed to get the impression that people prefer getting a Pally tanks over DK tanks.
Or have I got the wrong impression?
BTW, I have healers as well and I always feel that it is harder to heal Pally tanks - or perhaps I just bias against it ...
Can someone please explain the advantages of Pally tanks over the other tanking classes?
Thanks.

Right now, pally tanks do have a lower threat output at low vengeance (especially aoe threat).
Paladin tanks are favored currently because they 8juntil 5.4) are the equivalent of bringing 2 tanks(for tank debuffs), 1 raid healer and output as much dps as an actual dps class, while requiring very little healing when played right.
Seal of Insight, and Glyph of the Battle Healer, with hit/exp cap reached, and the rest dumped into haste as much as pssible (mastery where not possible), and as little dodge or parry as possible.
Come 5.4 some of that will be fixed, Battle healer glyph is being changed, so the paladin is no longer also a raid healer, unless they sacrifice their own healing from Seal of Insight. Also Warrior and DK tanks are getting a dps boost through Riposte.

Because they are all around good tanks.
Powerful raid/self heals (Probably the single most important factor here)
Devo Aura
Strong DPS.
Hand of Protection.
On demand Mitigation for predictable spike damage (Quite common this tier)
Pally bubble to reset stacks of debuffs.
It is mostly a 10 man raid thing. When you have only 10 players you want to bring as much to the raid as possible. Having said that, DK is also a very powerful tank more than capable of tanking anything (Lets ignore Ra-Den!). DK is going up in 5.4 while Paladins are going Down a bit. Just stick with the DK imo if you enjoy it more.

Play want u want to play.
Everyone has there own opinions as to want is better. I have all the tanks and don't really favor one class over the other. But from want I have seen over the few years that I have play is every patch there always seems to be 1 tank class that's always in demand.

Thanks for the feedback. I never thought about the raid heal part and am still a bit edgy about using bublle for resetting debuffs.
As for Hand of Protection, I hardly use it...leaving this to the others while I tank...but obviously need to pay it a bit more attention.
Just out of curiousity though. Apart from this, comparing to DK tanks - doesn't DK tanks provide more DPS and self heal?
@atomicwolf22 it is not so much that I prefer DK over Pally, just more "comfortable" because I seemed to survive a bit better with DK due to the various DK self heal, but I suppose I am just a LFR tank and is more concerned about my own survival! >.<
@Nightwolfe thanks for the input...that is certainly useful in LFR tanking...probably benefiting from it without knowing about it! :P
Great info btw from all of you. Appareciate it!

paladins got self heals also.. word of glory, lay of hands ( even tho bigger cd ), flash heal even tho bad to use when u are being hit or else guardians of kings to reduce dmg taken, ardent defender who also reduce dmg taken + if u glyph divine protection u also has some there to everything but yes paladins got bunch of utilities to help them self or others
every tanks can die in lfr or survive in lfr... but it all depends on how focused healers are and on the player behind the screen regarding using cds
my point of view from paladin tank main since end of tbc

In my raid group I tank Horridon full time on my pally since with the clemency talent I can reset my triple puncture stacks between each door (I also get 200k+ absorbs from SoTR around 7 or so stacks). Fighting Tortos I tank him while our brewmaster tanks the bats & every time they spawn they head straight for me instead of the healers(glyph of the battle healer I guess?) making it much easier for him to pick them up. Hand of purity is nice for the red head in the Mageara fight too. Aside from those specific examples, utility, utility, utility. Pallies have a pretty substantial bag of tricks.

Im coming back from a long time away and have tried all the tanking classes. Im getting the most enjoyment from the pally tank although i guess im biased because i rolled a pally before i stopped playing just before Cata.
Just seems very well suited to my playstyle and less spike damage.
