As it stands, I use Wild Growth on cool down on the melee group in raids (I pretty much only do 10 mans, so no glyph). With Rejuv and WG ticking away, Revitalize works really well.
In Cataclysm the cool down is being increased to 10s - and depending on how the mana regen works out, we might still use it on cool down.

In heroics (which are very boring to heal with a geared tank), I play a little game where I try to position myself such that WG hits the whole party :P

You can also cast it on bosses. I'm pretty sure the 15 yards business starts at the edge of the hitbox, so you get a huge amount of range on potential targets.

You definitely can. I've done it. Nowhere in the tooltip does it say it'll cast onto your target necessarily.
