There are 15 Master Tamers on the Broken Isles. There are achievements associated with beating any 12 of them with a team of three pets from the same family; completing all of these achievements grants the meta Family Familiar, which awards the Nightmare Treant pet.

Below is a list of all such achievements.

Versus Bodhi Sunwayver I found it easiest to go with this line-up:

Fen Crab 2-1-1
Emerald Turtle 1-1-1
Moonshell Crab 1-1-2

Open with Fen Crab and claw, claw, dive, claw till you kill the first pet.

Shell shield, claw, and dive on cooldown til Fen Crab dies.

Enter Moonshell Crab. Go moon tears, arcane slash till the second pet is dead.

Swap to Emerald Turtle and go shell shield, head butt, and emerald bite till the third pet is dead. Keep shell shield up as needed.

Here's a team I've used for some of the tamers. It certainly does not work for all of them but many it does:

Chuck with Rip, Surge, Blood in the Water
Muckbreath with Rip, Surge, Blood in the Water
Pengu with Surge, Slippery Ice, Ice Lance

Chuck and Muckbreath can be interchanged with Snarly or Toothy if you have those instead.

Pengu can be interchanged with Mr. Chilly or Tundra Penguin if you have those.

Typically I'll cast Rip, Blood in the Water and just Surge until the first NPC dies. Blood in the water hits fairly hard and with the bleed effect from Rip and going first with Surge, most of the time I can kill the first pet before Chuck dies. I repeat this process with Muckbreath on the second pet.

With Pengu I'll cast Slippery Ice and then just Ice Lance unless I have to go first in which case I'll cast Surge. With Slippery Ice up the enemy has a 20% chance to miss on an attack which comes in handy.

This addon: World Quest Tips & Timers helps track your progress on this achievement (amongst other things)

So you can see if you need the current pet battle world quests right from the world map - It adds to the tooltip of a pet battle World Quest (and the NPC) the following:

If you have never done the quest it adds name of the achievement plus progress eg:
Battle on the Broken Isles (14/30)
Then it adds each meta not met from Family Familiar, with progress. For example:

The Lil' Necromancer (5/12)
Mousing Around (3/12)
Best of the Beasts (8/12)
Aquatic Acquiescence (0/12)
Roboteer (1/12)
You can ignore up to 3 tamers per achievement (as you only need 12/15)
You can also Alt-Click on the world quest to add you own note to the tooltip and get links back to Wowhead and Aranesh's awesome wow-petguide.com

Aquatic Acquiescence vs Varenne: Note that this fight is a bit RNG heavy, due to the stuns and polymorph.

- Puddle Terror (1/1/1)
- Any strider with Cleansing Rain and Pump
- Any penguin with peck

To start, use Nature's Ward to protect yourself from mechanical attacks and heal. Use solar beam to boost your healing, then keep attacking. Make sure to keep Nature's Ward up. You should be able to take the first pet down with some decent health on you.

Against the rat, keep attacking as much as you can (don't bother refreshing NW). When your strider comes in, use Cleansing Rain, then Pump four times. It should be enough to kill it without triggering survival.

You should be able to take a few more shots at the frog. When your strider dies, bring in your penguin and peck it to death!

Vs Bodhi Sunwayver:

The difficult part here is his flying pet, as it is strong against aquatic pets.

I used Spawn of G'nathus vs his flying pet. The flying pet will first cast whirlwind, then buff to critical chance, then it will make a direct attack. If you time lightning shield - the bird will kill itself on your shield :-)

I used magical crawdad vs his humanoid pet. Shell shield will negate the stampede - making it an easy kill. I know the crawdad may be difficult to obtain - but you can use Frostshell Pincher or Ghosthell Crab instead with the same effect.

Used Hydraling and shell armor for his first pet.

Just to add a team that worked for me on Robert Craig for aquatic:

1) Hydraling
2) Magical Crawdad
3) Any (Wasn't needed for me, but might be unlucky so any aquatic)

Hydraling out first
Against first pet: Use Deep Bite, then Call lightning, then Shell armour. Continue with Deep Bite until his is dead
Against second: Use Deep bite, you should survive his first attack on a little health, then just keep attacking, using Call lightning on cooldown through his sleep phase.
Against third : You'll get stunned, switch to Crawdad. Use whirlpool then spam surge until it dies - surge will make you attack first so his Thrash doesn't deal too much damage.

Start with Moonshell Crab and use Renewing Mists. Use Arcane Slash, then Spell Shield. When Coach is in the air, use Arcane Slash. Use Renewing Mists, then Arcane Slash till the end.

Let Sir Murkeston finish off your crab ( it's gonna soak Falling Murloc damage ). Murloc should be stunned now and next his pet will be dragonkin. There goes your Mutant Warturtle. Use Jab, then smoke bomb ( to soak Darkflame ). Use Jab three times and Dragonin should faint.

Let Sir Murkeston finish off your Turtle. Time for Snarly. Use Rip, then Blood in the Water. Then keep surging till the end.

Nightwatcher Merayl proved tricky because of the lack of counters. However, a lucky streak of Frog Kiss will take care of the first two as they will keep refreshing the Curse of Doom. Moonshell Crab will finish off the bird.

For Durian Strongfruit, I managed to nearly 2 pet the fight, I imagine with decent RNG I probably could. Team below:

Dancing Water Skimmer (1, 1, 2)
Puddle Terror (2, 1, 1)
Sea Pony (as I said above, I nearly didn't need this pet) (1, 1, 1)

Started with skimmer, pump and heal on CD until Sunny is dead. Same thing with the Roots. when the Beaky comes out, he'll womp your skimmer to death, bring out puddle terror, use the heal to change your type, punch it to death for victory.

I barely squeaked this by with a Bullfrog (Kiss, Cleansing Rain, Water Jet) a Mongoose (Dive, Screech, Gnaw) and a Tideskipper (Geyser Tidal Wave, Crush)

Not perfect but ok if you don't have some of the pets mentioned in the other comments

For both Amalia and Durian Strongfruit, my team of Toothy, Snarly and Chuck (all 1,1,2) made for a very easy fight.

Very simple tactics, apply Rip, use Blood in the Water, and finish with Surge.

After a few attempts, I defeated Nightwatcher Meryl with:

Mud Jumper (25 H/B uncommon): Tongue Lash, Swarm of Flies, Bubble. I saved Bubble for the first time when Doom was going to pop; this pet killed the first two pets (Book and Ghost).

Young Mutant Warturtle (25 H/P rare): Jab, Smoke Bomb, Tornado Punch. I used Smoke Bomb as soon as I could, and my stun did not proc off Tornado Punch. This pet died fairly early, but absorbed the 2 cooldown abilities from the flying pet.

Moonshell Crab (25 P/P rare): Arcane Slash, Amplify Magic, Moon Tears. This pet took the first attack from the flying pet, then one Arcane Slash killed it. The flying pet still had Swarm of Flies on it from the Mud Jumper.

Don't do like I did and waste over an hour banging my head into the keyboard with Sir Galveston. The achievement only requires twelve defeated tamers, and there are fifteen total. Just skip him.

Curious, other than a sense of accomplishment, is there any bonus to defeating all 15 tamers for these achievements? Like for this one, I've all but given up on the headache of trying a full aquatic team against Flummox

Against Robert Craig, I recommend:

Here is my Aquatic strategy - Worked easily, but haven't tested it repeatedly.

Spawn of G'nathus - 1,2,1
Purple Puffer - 2,1,2
Emperor Crab - 2,2,2

The fight starts against Thrugtusk.

Spawn of G'nathus:
Lighting Shield
Thunderbolt
Swallow You Whole
Swallow You Whole

- Thrugtusk dies
- Wumpas enters

Swallow You Whole

Spiked Skin (you might be able to skip this and just Pump)
spam Pump

- Wumpas dies
- Baeloth enters

Surge
(pass when trapped)

Leviathan Hatchling dies here. Swap back to Spring Strider.

Shell, Moon tears, Arcane slash repeat
I used 2 frogs with Frog Kiss to kill the last 2.

Might take a while to get those lucky polymorph but I got him and my last frog was at 90% HP

Wow - I had amazing success for Aquatic Acquiescence using

Abyssal Slitherling (1,1,2)
Chitterspine Skitterling (2,2,3) and
Spawn of G'nathus (1,1,1)

I am sure it is only because Whirlpool crit the first time, since it didn't work at all the next two times I tried it, but here is the strategy anyway (in case it does work for you).

Start with Abyssal Slitherling, and use Whirlpool. Switch to Chitterspine Skitterling and use Swarm. After three rounds, your Skitterling will die. Bring in Spawn of G'nathus. Use Thunderbolt, then Swallow You Whole.Use Swallow You Whole again. Flummox died here for me. Hope it works for you.
