The vicious teromoths are just north of quest giver, in the town. The teromoths are located on the outskirts of the town, but I suggest going south of the road for them. They have an aura reducing stats by 5% and will occassional throw out a debuff that stops all attacks/spells - kind of annoying.

Killed about 7 vicious and got all 4 samples, got my first teromoth sample on the first try then after 20 min, still havent gotten the second

Level 62 - 50%
Level 63 - 29%

Drop rate from Teromoths
Level 62 - 40%
Level 63 - 40%

Warning, both these creatures pacify, silence and prevent attacks. Not so much fun for clothwearers.

It may help to pull the moths away from the ruins, as once out of them you lose the debuff aura.

Low drop rate but the lvl 63s seemed to drop most of my samples.

If you click the two items at the top of the page, wowhead says both of them have about a 30% droprate.

Well for all those locks out there i want to say that when you kill the Teromoths i think you increase the drop rate with drain soul cuz i killed 10 without drain soul and got 1 of the items and when i use drain soul i got the 3 more in a row

Either the drop rate on this quest has changed or I had really bad luck. It was godawful on the regular teromoths. I had about a 15% drop rate overall according to mobinfo. Incidentally the drop rate on the lvl 63 mobs was lower than the lvl 62s for me.

CONFIRMED: after killing about 25 or so level 62 teromoths...... zero drops.... after killing 4 level 63 teromoths, 4 drops. So gg blizz, but level 63 teromoths have 100% drop rate... TEST IT

wiped the whole forest than when the moth respawns i get 4 of em in a row for normal teromoths the viciouse teromoths had alright drop rates

Just to clarify: Pacifying Dust is the ability used by the regular Teromoths, and Dazzling Dust is the ability used by the Vicious Teromoths. Pacifying Dust prevents you from attacking (melee, autoshot, wand, etc) so casters can still use spells while under its effects. Dazzling Dust, however, is both a pacify and a silence, which, of course, prevents you from attacking or casting spells. Both abilities are only usable in melee range as well.

Second drop = 3rd kill
Third drop = 7th kill
Final drop = 14th kill

One death.

Teremoths
---------------
First drop = 5th kill
Second drop = 7th kill
Third drop = 8th kill
Final drop = 13th kill

Zero deaths.
7th (second drop) and 8th (third drop) kill for Teremoths were both killed at the same time by Bladestorm.

• Accept the quest, Strange Energy, from Earthbinder Tavgren at coords 44.2, 26.2 (Cenarion Thicket).
• Collect 4 Teromoth Sample from killing Teromoth, and 4 Vicious Teromoth Sample from killing Vicious Teromoth, around Cenarion Thicket.
• Travel to coords 44.2, 26.2.
• Turn in the quest to Earthbinder Tavgren.

Teromoths are only south of the questgiver, in the woods. Vicious Teromoths are only in the village, to the north.

I tried only killing the higher level ones, then only killing the lower level ones. However, it seems no matter how thin you slice it, this quest still has a super low droprate. Just kill them, and you'll eventually get them.

Collect 4 Teromoth Samples and 4 Vicious Teromoth Samples. Then return to Earthbinder Tavgren just outside of the Cenarion Thicket in Terokkar Forest.

Description

Something strange has changed the teromoths of the thicket.

Where once there was a diversity of life in there, now only the teromoths remain. And while before they were at peace, now they are agitated and will not hesitate to attack you should you get close.

I need to compare the vicious ones to the normal. Collect for me a number of samples from both. You'll find the unaffected teromoths both to the south and the north.

I'm certain this is related to whatever killed all of the druids.
