Even though Morbidius is an elite with a fair whack of health, and a projection of the Lich King gives you a little speech about how your doom is imminent, you can't really die to him.

This is basically the reward for all the slogging in the Fleshwerks. Easy, lore interaction and a blue. What more could you want?

Even though he's slow... don't try and kite him if you pull agro off the NPCs. He resets really easily and the NPCs despawn and don't respawn for at least 5 minutes if that happens.

As previously stated, this elite has a knockback move that does not cause fall damage.

However, if this elite so happens to knock you on top of the green skull platform, this mob will evade bug back to full HP. So if you're on the green platform, move off so he can hit you before he evade bugs and heals to full.

I did the quest twice..first time I got no credit as I hardly involved my self in the fight for fear I would be clobbered :P

second time I involved my self fully and he hits like a pansy on plate I am level 78

I've done it a second time on my priest as well and he still hits for nothing. so your chances of dying are slim to none

He will punt you if you get aggro so make sure your back is to something solid, not the edge of the platform.

Piece of cake as a hunter. Put your back to the wall and wait until the NPCs have him down to 60%, help drill him down to 30, feign death to drop aggro (just to be sure), then finish him off. Not much harder than killing a regular 80. Maybe that's why there's no reward for hunters. :P

This is one of the of the weirdest quest in Icecrown. I did the quest twice as a retribution paladin... the first time I was going all out on him and pulling aggro. Even though he doesn't hit hard, roughly 600-900 for melee swing and around 300 for knockback but he is resetting his hp for every knock back and end up resetting the whole event because I get knock off the platform.

The second time I am going easy on him - Seal of Corruption > auto swing > judge Light once in a while. For some reason he got pulled to the mountain side and constantly disappear along with all the NPCs (as in totally gone from the screen) and re-appear after a few seconds.

End up getting the credit as well. Do not panic if you have aggro, he is stunable and with Sacred Shield you doesn't even need to worry about his damage.

Really easy fight as a rogue and probably anyone else, just talk to the DK guy let him get some aggro then burn him down took me one try and shouldn't be much harder for anyone else

He hit me with knockback as an 80 lock.(btw i had agro whole time didnt get below 50%) I was backing the edge when he did it, and i hit the edge but didn't fall off. Just thought I would put that up here. Otherwise it is an easy fight.

I killed Morbidus twice and neither time was I given credit for the kill. First time had back to the wall, second time stood right next to him.

A third time he evaded and reset, the ebon blade fighters disappeared and then returned without Margrave. It then went into an endless fight. I re-logged and Morbidus was still fighting. I abandoned the quest, retook it and came back, and Morbidus was still there fighting ebon blade with no player anywhere around.

Put in a ticket.

Edit - Had conversations with two GMs on this quest. The first said he reset the encounter so I tried it again. Same result - killed him, but no quest credit. Second GM said "it's a known problem and we are working on it. Sorry, but you won't be able to complete the quest at this time. You can keep trying, and check the bug report forums." Sigh.

Just did this, 80 warlock. The death knights glitched out after a failed first attempt, and the main one you talk to would not respawn and the four generic ones would just die, respawn, immediately fight him again, repeat. As previously mentioned he is fearable and runs faster away from you than toward you, so it was not too hard to defeat him myself with negligible help from the mostly-worthless generic death knights.

NOTE: He will evade bug if you are standing on the central platform and he targets you. Morbidus has a crippling fear of stairs, apparently.

I went to do this quest and the guy you are supposed to talk to wasn't there at all, just the Ebon Blade Veterans and Morbidus himself. I saw him doing his knockback and aoe moves that hit the veterans, knocking them back some but they just ran back to where they were unharmed, i tried pulling him over to the veterans but he would evade unless i stood right in front of him in melee range. I then proceeded to kill him on my own, he barely hit me as a prot warrior with heroic gear and PuG raid stuff.

I just did this quest by soloing Morbidus without help from Margrave Dhakar and the ebon blade veterans.Morbidus evade ranged attack but at certain melee position, I can hit and fight him. If you're melee class then it is possible to finish the quest while in this buggy state but it won't be easy fight.

Just tried it. Margrave Dhakar is not were he is according to wowhead and the questlog...

I see 4 ebon hold veterans in from of the guy and none of them are Margrave Dhakar.

Tried fighting him but he evades everything.

Looks like blizz has some work to do...

I tried to engage him, attacking from his back, no luck. Flew around to where he was facing, and Mr. Dhakar is standing in the middle of the calvary. Spoke to him, dropped Morbidus with no problem.

Might've been fixed, just did it today with no problems whatsoever. Margrave Dakhar was there, I talked to him, The Lich King showed up, brief conversation followed by battle ensued. Don't seem like it'll be hard for any classes, I did it as a shadowpriest with almost full 10-man t7 healing gear.

this fight is doable as a healer. He bugged out at 15% went back to full health, the ebon blade guys couldn't hold aggro against my wrath every few seconds, So I just healed myself while they killed him. Easy.

Being a 78 WL, I encountered big probs first time. Was pulled, kicked and killed in 5 sec as I started by dot-dot'ing him. Seccond time I let the VW go and after 10 sec started hitting him hard, and he went down like a lamb...

Ok. Once you have this quest, travel to 29,61 and talk to Margrave Dhakar. This starts the battle and thus...the completion of this quest.

Just soloed at lvl 78 BM Hunter.. very easy. The guy you need to talk to is right in front of Drakar 29.61 confirmed. Quest helper has the right location currently.

oddly enough the guy to start the fight isnt there for me.

he was there the first time i tried it.

the lich king came and the entire thing bugged out one of the npcs jumped on him

then all of the npcs disappeared except for the mob and i couldnt attack him

dropped the quest picked it up again and the npc to start the encounter is gone

Just killed him, but man, this quest needs some work. I talked to Margrave, the Lich King appeared, talked a bit, then the fight started. Since I was doing something else at the same time, I didn't attack right away, and 10 seconds into the fight I look at my screen, and the NPCs apparently decided to kite him up the mountain. He then disappeared, only to reappear on the same mountain again 10 seconds later, and the NPCs went on to killl him again, only to have him disappear again, but this time for good. Back at the place where it started he suddenly reappeared 20 seconds after this all, and I easily soloed him after that, you even get 5 Ebon Hold Veterans to help you. He hit me for about 800-1000 per hit at level 80 in plate armor.

Okay, this worked but, the npc's WILL die, you can NOT heal them, and if you do not help and make sure he dies BEFORE the last npc dies.. you'll end up solo'ing the last few % of his hp, which wasn't so bad as a feral druid, he's rootable, so just root and backup and heal until you have it down.

Also a note, when i did this, if you get up into the mountains at the "edge" of the "Stairs area" near where he starts, you might step outside of the "phased event" and not see him, or the npc's anymore.. so buggy. npc's and him all walked up there on their own, and they were right on the edge, if i was on his left side, i could see him, if i was on the right side, he disappeared.

got it complete though, stupid quest. Decently well geared feral druid @ 78.

The Flesh Giant Champion was soloable with my single lvl80 undead dk, unholy build, health 16451, adequate armory 12932 and 645 damage polearm(Whale Stick Harpoon)= dps 1176.

Tactics was: Army of Dead, then (less than 30 sec) first Death Grip, then rotating Icy Touch, Plague Strike, Pestilence, Scourge Strike.. The mob lost 50% of health while the 7 ghouls(mine included) ate it up. Then I started to hit it, and the summoned six extra ghouls were yet 30 sec alive when the mob was down.

Schwesterdk lvl 80 undead dk, 100% .. ok 99% unholy build(Icy Touch has 3 talents)

Tactics? What is the big deal? Talk to the npc, stand and kill the elite. I did it as an 80 warlock without exceptional gear and never got below 50% health. Boom, boom boom and he's dead.

Mages beware: my cloth covered butt came a hair of being dead. I popped a health potion which kept me up long enough.

I waited until the Ebon knights had tagged him. I even waited until his health had gone down a fraction so I knew he was fully engaged. But as soon as I hit him, all of his attention went to me. Mage shield and the health potion is all that kept me alive. It was a very very quick fight, tho. If I had died, I would have refueled with a mana regen buff food, used the mage armor vs the molten. Then I would have popped the mana shield as soon as the first shot was off. The fight was short enough that I don't think I would have run out of mana before I ran out of health.

The Ebon knights are standing in a staggered line. The guy you need to talk to is in the front row middle. He's the only one with a "talk" cursor. They are literally right at Morbidus' feet. The area is phased I think and you have to be really close to see him and even closer to see the knights.

I must say, this entire quest chain was poorly and lazily constructed.

I found it funny how the guys were just standing there just staring at the thing. The Lich King´s appearance didn't really do much for me either, he felt completely out of character, not at all intimidating, childish even. He was also missing his usual red text, another pointer to the quest maker´s laziness.

Wish reviving people ripped to pieces was as simple as the pre-quest also, a spool of thread and a cleaver (why the cleaver?). A true gold nugget among quests.

Fire skeletons hiding in the ground which explode when they come into contact with abominations? Classic, guess flatulence can replace explosives.

I can confirm as of 3.3 Margrave is longer present. This is a 3.3 bug. Cannot complete this quest as of 3.3 until bugfix.

And i can also confirm that it does not help to kill yourself, he is not there when your in whisp/soul form like the one quest in Brd.

I can confirm as of January 5th, 2010, after tuesdays maintainence, this bug has been fixed and works perfectly.
Thanks for the info on the bug - I was beginning to wonder if I was going crazy not being able to find a simple NPC.

Edit: It seems that the NPC is still missing on some servers, however, Coilfang I can confirm is working properly.

I almost dropped the quest after reading about the "glitch". As of Jan 17th. Margrave is there. I had flew around looking for him, then came here and read that it was a glitch. Anyway after logging back in he was there. Standing between the four troops and the giant. good luck.

Well I am getting the same response... we are aware and we are working on a fix......... very irritating to say the least! Seems that this has been an ongoing issue that isnt getting fixed. The NPC is not there and I have been sitting on the landing for over an hour now, and the GM would not reset the instance but just wants to tell you that it is a known issue and they are sending it on to the developers.... WTH?

i have to say patience is needed in waiting for the NPC Margrave Dhakar to spawn. when i first arrived at the platform there were two no names and the big bad elite. i flew around a bit, mined some ore, came back and he was there along with 4 no names and a guy on a horse. patience, young ones. patience.

No I can confirm this is STILL BUGGED.

Checked it on two servers, on three level 80s.

Four veterans just stand there. You cannot attack him or talk to anyone. I flew circles around him, laid down aoe spells, relogged, restarted, etc.

Waiting on GM ticket now.

As others have said, as of patch 3.3.2 this quest is still bugged.

I have managed to complete this quest by opening a GM ticket and politely asking them to spawn the missing NPC Margrave Dhakar so I could continue the quest, or just mark the quest as complete in my quest log.

I got a response from the GM saying they had spawned Margrave Dhakar and the quest could now be completed.

Headed over to coords: 29,61 and he was waiting for me.

This is very similar to the bug with the quest Sorlof's Booty. That quest is taking ages to fix, no doubt this one will too.

Edit:
As with Sorlof's Booty, this quest bugs in & bugs out. Just try to do it once a day, & you should be able to complete it eventually.

quest is currently bugged on live realms. Margrave Dhakar is not currently visible. You have to open a ticket and talk to a GM until the problem's fixed.

He is still bugged its march 4 today.... i flew around for a while tryin to figure out there Dhkar was but after about 10 min i read these comments and opened a ticket... this is my second quest in Northerend to have the end bugged... Blizz stop working on ICC and get to fixing quests!

This is no longer bugged on the EU server Aggramar, I've just been able to complete it after talking to a now present Margrave Dhakar. I recommend going back by the area and checking if you can now complete the quest.

i just did it on Illidan server (USA), and when i flew away he was already respawned, so i dont think Illidan has any problems (just some good information to all Illidan caracters out there :D (hey guys :P) (12 march)

Well hell like we all have time to sit waiting for GM to respond (which they rarely do) think its pretty bad given that this quest is end of chain! Come on Blizzard you get enough money for this game,,,, sort it out.

I've just sent a ticket to Blizz about this, and after reading through this, I think they may at least be able to reset the quest for me...I hope so...we shall see.

I see comments here that Dhakar can't be seen. After intense investigation and many tries to make this quest work (nothing does), I can assure you that Dhakar IS there. He simply is standing just under Morbidus' right foot!

Whether or not this is the problem, there is no quest marking of any type, and there is no white conversation bubble icon to allow you to talk to him to start the fight. You can talk to him as to most NPCs, and he'll ask you what you need, but it's not the right conversation, and there doesn't seem to be much you can do about it.

I've abandoned the quest and started over four different times, making sure I had done all the other quests, etc., logging out, quitting the game and coming back, going other places and doing other quest trees, just staying there to see if the quest would unlock, trying to kill Morbidus without going through Dhakar (which isn't possible--I get a "not a valid target" tag...nothing works.

So...I hope this helps someone else. I'll come back and post if Blizz is able to help me.

I found Margrave! However it seems that, having been absent for quite a while, he was a bit too keen to start the fight. He spawned on top (yes, on top) of Morbidus and was continuously swinging his sword.. and missing.

He was also too busy 'fighting' to speak to me and start the event :(

margrave for me is standing right underneath the giant, but sadly, even though he looks to be doing nothing, he's taken 3k damage and isn't able to be spoken too :/ still bugged it seems.

Quest is still bugged as of today. I got to Morbidus, and there were four Ebon Blade warriors, and the Margrave was up on Morbidus's shoulders, and no one would talk to me. Logged, same thing. Abandoned, same thing.

My GM ticket resulted in "soon"... big shock. Will they ever fix this?

Edit: happy to say that, when I logged on the *next* day, there was a second, very polite, reply from a GM saying that Morbidus had been reset and was open for business. And he was. Quest finished, moving on.

Sometimes this quest is bugged with Margrave standing on Morbidus, making him unable to be spoken to. If you have a friend from a different CRZ server type, ie. you're on a PvP server but have a battle.net friend on a PvE server, have them invite you to their party. You'll likely transfer CRZ and hopefully phase into a correct unbugged version of the quest. Margrave will be standing in the middle of the 4 NPC's. Just talk to him to begin the fight.

Edit: You can now use the premade-finder to hop to a different realm. Just be sure that you are in a party to get credit and not in a raid.

It's a really easy quest for people who are ranged or magic attack, all you have to do is stand back, do you spells, and let the NPC's take the beating, you aren't even scratched in the end!

It's been over 9 years, and this quest can still get bugged out. I submitted a ticket to a GM, we'll see what happens! I'll add an update if I get one. Quest bugs like this should really get resolved, or have the quest changed (in this case, remove the requirement to talk to Margrave and just kill Morbidus)

With Shadowlands on the horizon and the level squish/rework, way more people might run into this issue, beside just people looking to complete achievements.

Edit/Update: GM ticket basically said "We have received reports of this event not resetting correctly for some players. Fortunately, we do have a temporary solution to help out here. I've reset the event, you may want to try this quest again as quickly as possible."

I went to the quest 25 min after the email was sent, and it was still bugged, ended up going to the Argent Tourney grounds and swapping off war mode, then flew back to the quest, that seems to have put me in a phase that was not bugged.

Icecrown zone is so screwed up that you have to do some of many of the progression quests for Loremaster way out of order. For instance, this achievement cannot even be finished until like 3rd to last......after you do the Deathgates that are at the bottom of the achievement list. It's a complete joke on Blizzard's part and will confuse a LOT of people. I wasted a good 2 hours flying around trying to find how to continue this quest line from the little boy and Arthas's chain, just to find out I had to finish Corp'rethar Deathgate first, which is the very LAST part on the Loremaster list for Icecrown. Unbelievable on Blizz's part.

As of BfA, when you find Margrave under Morbidus and you are unable to start the fight, go to Stormwind and turn on warmode. Return and the Margrave will be standing with the veterans and you will be able to initiate the fight.

If you dont know where to continue with this part of achi, try to kill some npcs near the Darkrider Arly. They drop item which starts next quest line.

The Flesh Giant Champion

Speak with Margrave Dhakar at the western end of the Fleshworks to engage Morbidus. After you have defeated Morbidus, report to Darkrider Arly at Blackwatch.

Description

You've done well in destroying the Fleshwerks and slaughtering the Lich King's servants. Now, all that remains is to defeat the Fleshwerks' greatest accomplishment -- the flesh giant known as Morbidus.

It will not be an easy fight, but the Shadow Vault has dispatched Margrave Dhakar with some reinforcements. Meet up with him at the highest point at the western end of the Fleshwerks. Tell him when you're ready to begin the attack and he'll order his forces into battle.
