The guns are mounted all along the walls of the keep,near the goblin itself,everytime you fire a rocket,the gun's mana fills up.
at full mana,u can unleash the "reckoning bomb",which does mass ae dmg.
the only thing to be careful of is the frost wyrms..they take a lot of hits to kill and can destroy your turret easily.

all in all,a awesome quest with awesome rewards

I did this quest on live and it was bugged for me the first time I tried it. I could get onto the turrets and press the fire button, but nothing would come out. I tried it for a while and couldn't get it to work. Finally I left the zone and logged out. When I logged back in it worked fine.

Tip: temporarily bind both of the cannon's spells to your "q" and "e" keys. (or whatever you'd like)

Once you have mounted the cannon, hold down both mouse buttons to create a movable target. Spam your q button spell until you reach maximum mana, then the e button to release unleash the wrath! I found this to be an incredible method which led to a lot of fun...and a beautiful reward.

The attack should have been headed by 'Scourge Lord Zakkaz', a giant undead troll.

Reckoning Bomb would one shot him every time.

This was bugged for me, would only fire every 2 minutes or so. To fix, fly out of the zone (go east to Storm Peaks), exit the game, and then log back in. This fixed it for me. /console reloadui didn't.

Nice how everyone failed to mention that you need the Northrend flying mount to be able to access the gun towers...unless you're like me, and died near a tower to simply corpse-run on top of it so you can mount!

The Reckoning Bomb ability on the cannon is a reference to the old school reckoning talent, where Paladins would get 1 extra swing on their next swing every time they were crit. This would stack infinitely, and unleashing piles of extra swings all at once was called a Reckoning Bomb. Paladins could and were 1 shotting raid bosses with this exploit.

It is possible to do this both without a flying mount and without dying. I know because I just did it. Level 77 Human Paladin, All t5/t6 or equivalent gear. Just run into the fray and tag one of the Frostblood Destroyers, so long as the NPC tanking it is alive you should be fine. If looks low on health GTFO or you're going to be swarmed by all of the stuff that was attacking him. Takes a while, but it is possible. Even though this is true, I believe they should make it more accessible to those without the Cold Weather Flying.

The cannon was bugged for me:
1) I'm a lock
2) had a felguard summoned
3) flew up there and clicked the cannon, vehicle bar appeared
4) cannon wouldn't shoot

Here's how I made the cannon shoot:
1) flew up and dismounted
2) summed another felguard
3) dismissed felguard
4) used cannon

janky, but it works.

Yea, i can agree. if you die near a tower your spirit can fly and you can just rez on top of the towers. just stay on the one tower until you finish the quest so you cant have to keep getting killed to get to a new tower. they respawn in the matter of a minuet or less. so yea, nont need to drop that 5k or 1k to fly in northren just yet.

Logging out and back in to get the cannons to work was the only way for me to get them to work correctly, I have the same problem in Wintergrasp. I wonder if its a Warlock issue. It's very frustrating.

You have to shoot with canons on your targets. The canons are on the very top of the little towers. You can only get on the little towers with flying mounts!

This quest chain is a progressive, or how to call it, one.

By completing quests, some NPCs like Tirion Fordring change locations, the NPCs don't fight in front of the Vanguardm etc.

I like that and hope more quests get phased, like these :-)

Do notice that when you activate/complete this quest, the area is phased.. and the Webbed Crusaders dissapear, thus can you no longer get the extra Blessing of Wisdom the crusaders buff you with, upon saving them.

For me as a healer, it was pretty sweet always getting it before an instance or raid, having 2 BoW that both stacked for 30min was just helpful.

The elite frostwyrms only count 1 towards your 100 kill count. Kind of reminded me of Gimli's "That still only counts as one!" when I noticed that.

For those that are a bit slow like me- the towers that they talk about is right around the questgiver. Fly up and then click on them to activate. When it gets destroyed just go to the one on the other side and alternate.

Press 1 to fire at your targets. This will gain you 100 mana. Once you have 1000 mana, use the reckoning bomb by pressing 2. Rinse and repeat, and it should be done in no time.

I stayed around and killed extra stuff just for the fun of it. :D Awesome quest.

Note that while most healers would pick up Cannoneer's Morale for the mp5, healadins should choose Cannoneer's Fuselighter instead because paladin healing relies on high crit, while mp5 is not very important for healadins since WotLK.

Cannons appear to be bugged. Playing a troll priest. 'Argent Cannon' ability does not fire, even after relogging, abandoning/reaccepting. I remember doing this quest on another character without any problems... will update if i manage to get it to work consistently

you need a flying mount to get up there.
the argent cannons are on the towers above the quest giver locs: 85, 75 and 85, 74.

watch closely when you get the message: 'Reckoning bomb READY' , here you can do a lot more damage in a wider area, to cast take option 2, option 1 is a normal shot

u also need to peek at the flying dragons that are firing at you, when your cannon gets blown to pieces, just wait for a good 30 secs or fly to the other cannon, right-click to get on the cannon when pointing at the it

If you got problems go ON tower/cannon.

If you dont have flying mount you can die near tower to step up cannon.
Just fly with your soul on cannon and spawn on it ;)

Just in case there is anyone out there as dense as I seem to be, the way to build up the mana for the cannon is to keep shooting the cannon! Took me numerous times to get that one!

This quest here is actually very exploitable for the tournament dailies;

If you do not complete it, you can do the "slay icecrown scourge" quests instantly. You just fire 1 or 2 shots and the kills you get do indeed count for "A Valiant's field training" and "Taking the battle to the enemy"

Ok, apparently there are really stupid people out there. I know this because I am one of them. I didn't understand a lot of the postings very well so I will make it as simple as can be. It didn't help that I have no idea when I received the quest or from whom. I just noticed I had the quest and started trying to kill the frostbrood destroyers on my own. And I didn't understand the references to the towers.
1. Fly on top of a tower. The one I was on was at 85, 75.
2. Click on the gun up there and then there will be a tool bar that pops up.
3. Click on the icon that looks like a bullet to keep shooting at monsters. Note the little meter between the bullet icon and the green life meter. Make sure the red one is towards the bottom so you aren't shooting up in the air at nothing. Just click it to the bottom one or one up from that. Keep clicking away and shooting until a line of text appears on the screen telling you that the reckoning bomb is ready. Then click the icon right next to the bullet one. That will create the bomb to kill the frostbrood destroyers and you may get some of the other scourge attackers with it.
4. When the gun is destroyed, STAY on top of the tower! A new one will appear in about a minute or two.
5. Repeat over and over again until you complete the quest.

This quest has everything. Vehicles, big fights, bigger cannons, huge damage, sweet rewards, and the return of the Reckoning Bomb. 80k dmg is not to be ignored.

Alright, first of all, if you're like me and you run from vehicle quests, this isn't as bad as some of the others. That said, I had the problem that I couldn't stay in the vehicle when it broke. Health never went down until it broke and I was forcibly ejected into the mobs. If this happens to you, my suggestion is to use a cannon with fewer mobs near it (for me it was the ones on the west) so when you get ejected, you can quickly remount and get back up.

And as was mentioned, the mana for the vehicle is more like runes or rage, using 1 increases it, 2 empties it once it's full. I also had to keep spamming 1 on the destroyers because I would get ejected shortly after using 2.

There is another way, without dying or flying mount. It's long but it works, as you know Tirion run around, killing the wyrm all over the place. All you need to do is hit a wyrm attacked by tirion once, and you'll get the credit for it being killed, you can do the same with the nerubian, but you can also AoE kill them since they're non elite, and they don't hit too hard (they also respawn fast). It's long, but I did it this way.

If you can't fly in Northrend yet, you can kill yourself near one of the towers and fly on it with the spirit mount.

I have done this quest a dozen times and it is only when I do it on my monk that I notice Tirion tearing things up on the battlefield... as Fezzik tells you when you go to hand in the quest.

Use an Argent Cannon to destroy 100 Scourge attackers. You must also kill 3 Frostbrood Destroyers.

Return to Siegemaster Fezzik should you succeed.

Description

I've triggered the base's defenses, <class>! Atop each of the Vanguard's four towers is a retractable Argent Crusade cannon, blessed by Father Gustav himself. You'll need to fly up to one of those towers and man a cannon. Use it to destroy the Scourge onslaught that the Lich King has deployed.

Just one warning, the Scourge will undoubtedly send their frost wyrms to lay siege to the towers. Shoot them out of the sky! If they destroy the walls and towers of this base, we're done for!
