This quest is actually a daily. Everyone is able to summon Ahune once per day, meaning that he can be summoned five times within the same instance.

Summoning Ahune is enough to complete the quest...
Up until this point, it's possible (and very easy) to solo it, if you can stealth (i.e. Rogue, Druid, invisibility etc)..

Killing him, however, is another matter ;)

Ahune is a Curator-like boss, except that Ahune himself doesn't need to be tanked.

Phase 1:
The tank should pick up the big add, which should be dpsed down as fast as possible, because as soon as it goes down, it gets a lot easier for the healer. After that, you'll spend 2 or 3 minutes killing the smaller adds, which all have minimal amounts of health, (Roughly 2.5k I beleive) meaning that it's a waste of time to tank them, so dps should simply knock them down.

Phase 2:
You get a big yellow message: 'Ahune has retreated' and Ahune shifts into his crystal form, and he is now vunerable to damage. Once this phase is over, you're back to Phase 1. Each phase 1 gets progressly harder, kind of like a passive enrage, because more of the smaller adds will spawn.

Note: Ahune has a heckload of armor, even in crystal form where it's stil about 40% damage reduction for physical damage, so the best group brings along a spellcaster or two.

when Ahune dies, an ice chest spawns containing cloaks on normal difficulty and necklaces on heroic

I was really upset at first because I couldn't finish this quest last year and wasn't able to pick it up again....Until I went in the instance up to the stone and picked it up there.

I have a question: My 80 friend and I (73) tried to kill ahune for the quest, but the first time, ahune despawned, the second time, we failed. If i attempt this today again with another friend, with him starting the quest and summoning ahune (since i already used my daily summon), will i be able to loot Ahune's shard?

soloed easily by a level 80 retri paladin. just keep sacred shield on and use flash of light when its insta cast.

edit: off course, frost resist aura helps greatly...

Did it on my 63 Discipline priest healing 2 80s 1 feral druid, 1 fire mage, and got the achievement for Flame Warden. :3

The following can be found in the Satchel of Chilled Goods found in the chest after killing Lord Ahune for the first time in a day:
1. Two Frost Tokens (Always)
2. Frostscythe of Lord Ahune
3. Frigid Frostling (taught by Ice Chip)

Lord Ahune drops the following ilvl 232 Cloaks:
1. Icebound Cloak - Tanking Cloak with Defense and Dodge
2. Shroud of Winter's Chill - Caster Cloak with Haste and Crit
3. The Frost Lord's Battle Shroud - Plate Melee DPS Cloak with Expertise and Crit
4. The Frost Lord's War Cloak - Leather Melee DPS Cloak with Haste, Crit and Attack Power
5. Cloak of the Frigid Winds - Caster Cloak with Haste and Spirit

Lord Ahune drops Shards of Ahune. This starts a quest that you can hand in to the NPC Luma Skymother

Quests:
1. Unusual Activity - Kill Twilight Hammer's members in the Zoram Strand in Ashenvale until Twilight Correspondence
2. An Innocent Disguise - Use the Orb of the Crawler, follow the blue torches north to (9,12)
3. Inform the Elder - Travel to a capital city and speak to the Earthen Ring Elder.
4. Ahune, the Frost Lord - Turn in at Luma Skymother.
5. Ahune is Here! - Turn in at Luma Skymother.
6. Summon Ahune - Turn in at Luma Skymother.

To summon Lord Ahune, click on the stalagmite coming out of the ice to the left as you enter the Slave Pens.

This is no longer available to characters at level 65 as they buffed the boss to level 80 and the quest rewards to ilevel 232.

Since it was available at level 65 before, it may be available to level 75 characters now.

Bring the Earthen Ring Magma Totem to the Ice Stone.

Description

I and my Shamans have gathered our powers for the coming battle with the Lord of Frost. <name>, you will be the fist of the Earthmother.

Take this magma totem. Use it against the Ice Stone, to the northeast. Ahune is channeling his power through this stone; it is our hope that the totem will disrupt him and cut off his link to the elemental planes.

If fortune is with us, then, perhaps, we can defeat him.

Prepare yourself, <name>. If Ahune comes to face us, then his fury will be great.
