I found him right outside Falcon Watch.

WARNING: He doesn't have a ? over his head, so you have to look at his name. Go up to him and talk to him, and after you talk he'll dismount and attack you.

Once you get him to 20% (it's an easy fight), he'll give you the next quest in the chain.

He's walking from zangarmarsh to Falkon Watch , so he can be anywhere on that road , just follow that road and you'll find him.

I found him right at the edge of the zone between Hellfire and Zangarmarsh at Thornfang Hill. If you're a warlock, this is what I did, and in my opinion, the quickest way to get him to 20%: I threw a couple of DoTs and Curse of the Elements on him, let my Voidwalker beat him up a bit, then used Soul Fire.
I talked to him, got the quest... then a 70 draenai mage came out of nowhere and killed me.
So be careful if you're on a PvE server.

yea i found him right outside of falcon watch he is riding purple hawk strider and he covers a bit of ground but very easy quest though

60 Lock, A simple Deathcoil/Fear - Dot chain did it, not even a scratch.
However my fingers ache a bit after casting those exhausting spells.

Found him right as i got Zmarsh, thought I must have missed him at first. He walks pretty darn slow, but worth the wait for a few mins, if you don't have to fight off any of the mobs over there. He uses frost Nova.

Not sure why, but I too did not have to fight this guy. In fact, he DID have a yellow question above his head, and in my mini map as well. Turned in the quest just like any other delivery quest.

Apparently he also did not give me the follow up quest. Nothing to abandon to start over and no quest to continue. Very odd.

By the way, how do you get the text in different colors?

If he has a question mark above his head and you haven't fought him, don't turn the quest in. Wait for him to respawn (because another player already fought him) and THEN turn it in.

I found him at approx 22, 49. Carbonite is a bit misleading with what it pops up. He runs on the main road.

if you have quest helper don't pay any attention to the question mark on Falcon Watch just follow the road to Zangarmarsh he will be on there somewhere.

He did not have a question mark over his head when I found him right outside of Falcon Watch. When you mouseover, a speech bubble shows. Talk to him, ask about the secret, and you will have to fight him, but he will eventually surrender.

Does anyone know the respawn time of this guy? Funny I see him all the time on my alliance toon, roll a horde and he's not to be seen...lol

In 4.0.3 Magister Aledis is still walking the road I found him at about 21,49 so he is still
following the same path in Cataclysm as he was previously. Just keep going up and down the road that heads towards Zangarmarsh and you will find him.

He does NOT have a question mark over his head. But if you mouse over him he will have
the chat box. Just click on him. on PVE servers this WILL mark you as PVP when you fight him
so beware.

I'm sure you could just wait by the entrance to Falcon Watch for him, or you can just ride down the main road until you see a blood elf on a hawskstrider. That'll be him.

I had a '?' right outside of the southeast exit of Falcon Watch past the flags, but never saw the guy. I finally found him by running toward Zangarmarsh. I finally found him in Thornfang Hill (around 8:30). I had to fight him first, then he gave the followup quest. And I didn't get tagged for PvP.

ATTENTION: If this toon decides he wants to fight you after your interrogation (which is more often than not, but not 100% of the time) then be warned that it turns your PvP on as soon as you return the hit. Just an FYI for those who don't expect it when it happens.

Found him parked on the main road, right at the border between Zangarmarsh and Hellfire.

Blizzard UI showed a ? right outside Falcon Watch, but that is wrong!

My map showed him just outside of Falcon Watch, I rode up the road and back once and missed him. So I hit Control V to show name plates and I saw him immediately as I rode up the road.

Im level 63 hunter (Hoarde) and even though it took a while to find him, he was pretty easy to control and restrain, he threw a fire ball at me at first, then he just started talking to me after I hit him a few times...didnt have to kill him...pretty easy quest, frustrating though.

Is this dude hiding? Aside from the question mark not showing I've read everyone's names in or around where the question marks were on my map and mini map... nada. If I go stand on top of the question mark on my minimap to locate the dude I'm simply facing out of the falcon watch camp in between the two flags to the road. Grrrrr. Is he just not available? Walking around? A bug? Anyone?

I went up and down the road 6 times looking for this guy. I thought it might be bugged or deprecated, but when I got on with other things, he wandered past. I’d recommend not bothering if you don’t see him at first - if you have other quests in the area do those and keep a lookout.

Not that I have any confidence Blizzard will do anything about this, however. Why DOES this quest flag us pvp? There is no action being taken against the alliance. It's a Horde NPC that attacks us. It's not even a player versus a player, it's a player versus a computer generated NPC (hence the NPC). This isn't the only time this has happened either. I believe a quest in Stonetalon Mountains does the same thing, NPC attacks us and we're flagged pvp. Why? There isn't a player versus a player involved.

He walks up a down the road, spawning at the question mark and walking from there, on a purple Hawkstrider. He wears a read and yellow robe.
He does not have a question mark above his head until you speak to him and attack him, once he gives up the fight he will let you turn in the quest.

And apparently if you sit there and don't turn it in right away he disappears after a few seconds.... oops, he does come back around though.

Bugged with workaround (may be cause of Allied Race)
after defeating him he wont let you turnin your quest bevore he despawns

Workaround after having him despawn he will shortly respawn in Town at Questmarker
Defeat him again > Drop quest > Reaccept while he still isnt despawned and turn in

Arelion's Secret

Magistrix Carinda wants you to interrogate Magister Aledis, last seen traveling from Falcon Watch to Zangarmarsh.

Description

Arelion's journal does not deal with any sort of scholarly studies. It details his escapades with a young female blood elf! How could I've been such a fool?

Unfortunately, the floozy's identity is not revealed in this journal. Aledis, a colleague of Arelion's, was his best friend and confidant. Go question him and find out who he was having this affair with.

I saw Aledis leave Falcon Watch for Zangarmarsh. Follow the road headed north from town; it'll eventually lead west, toward Zangarmarsh.
