You can jump straight down and just kill a few groups of http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=13022 if you are careful and watch the patterns of the patrols soloing the Black Lotus if it spawns should be fairly easy though you will need some luck on its location on the grassy area.

I have found that it will be in one place per zone at a time. So once you find one. Don't bother looking for more Black Lotus until a reasonable amount of time has passed for it to spawn again.

I have found if you are willing to spend some time, you can probably pick up 5-7 of these in about a 3-4 hour period. I flew all over the world one day to see how many I could pick and ended up with 7 I believe, without too much hassle.

I just thought I'd mention that black lotus will spawn in only one location in a zone at any given time (the different locations can be seen on the maps above) and that it has a 60-70 minute respawn timer. Because of the respawn timer, it's not too difficult to dominate the spawns in one continent if you're keeping track of how long before a zone has a black lotus spawn. I will mention that I've seen a couple times where the lotus respawned sooner, but generally, I found a 70 minute respawn to be true.

With the lowering of level of Winterspring and *especially* Eastern Plaguelands, I have yet to see any of these nodes spawning there any more. I believe the only places to find these nodes are presently Blasted Lands and Silithus, now. I.E. the top level zones.

As of 4.3.4 it is useless trying to farm these in Silithus. I farmed & quested with my 58 hunter for ~3-4 hours and this is what I got:

102 dreamfoil
83 sungrass
64 golden sansam
9 mountain silversage
1 black lotus

The only spot I found the black lotus is neither any of the spots listed on wowhead nor the comments. It was at 32.1, 44.4. I checked that spot regularly afterwards but in instead there was only dreamfoil (exact same spot)

The comment about black lotus only spawning once in a zone at one time is not true, i just collected 2 black lotus in silithis within 30 seconds of each other then another 20 minutes later, maybe they changed it since 4.3 but its worth checking all the spawn points before moving to another zone

So I was trying to gather a few of these to make some Flask of Distilled Wisdom for my twink lock. I'm on a low-pop server(Stormscale-CN) so there's no one selling them and I had to do this myself.

However, after ~6 hours spent circling Silithus and Blasted Lands following the spots listed here, I found only one Black Lotus, and it was not on the spots listed. (I don't have a coords addon but it was immediately to the right of the "F" in "BONES OF GRAKKAROND".) On GatherMate2 it shows up as a Dreamfoil spawning spot only.

I decided to switch strat. I followed the Dreamfoil spots instead, and within 2 hours I got 2 (within 2 minutes of each other; so no more respawn timer either)in Blasted Lands - also on Dreamfoil spots instead of spots listed here. I think it is safe to assume that as of 4.3.4, they share spawning spots with Dreamfoil; the spots listed here are probably obsolete.I am thinking that they may work like Khorium Vein now, i.e. you basically farm Dreamfoil to get Black Lotus to spawn; but that's just my speculation.

I've never seen these anywhere in Azeroth, but yesterday I was running Ulduar and came across loads in Freya's section of Ulduar, the Conservatory of Life. Freya
I know it's not an ideal farming place, but keep an eye out for anyone running Ulduar who may be able to pick them up for you.

These still seem to require 300 in herbalism, even though maximum skill is 100 now. After all that time searching for one, I couldn't even pick it up when I finally found one! FeelsBadMan

The herb pin on the minimap shows the title "Black Lotus" on them.

(I wasn't so sure since it spawns in place of other herbs)

If you're here in Dragonflight you know that it's relevant again. So to save yourself some sanity. If you're looking in Silithus you need to go into the past, not with the sword. I looked around for about 30 minutes before making this change and found 2 right off the bad.

Since this is now once again a relevant farm. My tactic has been the following. When I arrive in the zone, I see if anyone else is in the zone and do a quick pass over the zone to see if there's any current Black Lotus. Then I pick one of the three herbs in the zone (Golden Samsam, Dreamfoil, or Sungrass) and harvest only the nodes of that herb across the zone. Then I do a pass over to see if any Black Lotus spawned behind me. I have had the most success with this, getting up to 5 or 6 Black Lotus per hour. I explain why this works below.

I also figure it's time for an update on classic node farming and dispelling some of the mis-information here. Black Lotus share spawns with Golden Samsam, Sungrass, and Dreamfoil spawns in the zone's they're found in. While each of the three other herbs are also grouped into their own collections of instanced nodes, that rotate the local spawn every so often inside the instance. Making the following true:

When you harvest any herb node in the zone, it will spawn another from that instance group somewhere else in the zone.
That spawn has a chance to be a Black Lotus.
If no one has harvested from a node in an instance group within a frame of time. There's a chance the current node will disappear and a new spawn show up.
This also has a chance of being a Black Lotus.
Instance groups can span across the entire zone, or be localized within parts of a zone.
Harvesting a Black Lotus will make a new spawn show up.
This may not be another Black Lotus.

This means if you're out just flying around not farming herbs in the area. You may not find a Black Lotus spawn in the zone, as all the current spawns are currently taken by the other three. At the same time the spawn chance for a Black Lotus is high enough that at any one time there should be one or two spawned in the zone at any one time. However if none of the nodes are being farmed. You have to wait on the internal timer to force a respawn of an existing node. At the same time if you farm every node available, and others are in the zone you may still never see a Black Lotus because they're farming them for you and spawning behind your farm path. By selecting just one of the herbs in the area. You can control where the respawns happen to a degree and don't need to trawl the entire zone.

Authors Note about Mountain Silversage: Mountain Silversage appears in the hills surrounding and in the zones that Black Lotus spawn. There's some evidence to suggest that Black Lotus shares these spawns as well. I have however not tested this nor intend to do so; as Mountain Silversage is already limited in number due to how and where it spawns. If someone wants to test or has confirmation that Black Lotus does share spawn nodes with Mountain Silversage. Please comment below.

In Dragonflight 10.0.7, Black Lotus is used by alchemists to create Gurubashi Mojo Madness. This potion is needed by players who want to farm Zul'Gurub for the replacement recipes that were previously removed. You use the potion on the summoned campfire from the Brazier of Madness, and then the mobs will be friendly and you can interact with Blood Piles and trade in Bijous for a chance at the recipes.

Alchemists with 300 Classic alchemy skill learn the recipe for Gurubashi Mojo Madness by interacting with the Tablet of Madness.

I just found two in Silithus 67,68 and 42,52 (within 15 minutes). Couple of weeks ago found one in Blasted Lands 73,61 (next to big turtle shell). My method: Just fly and collect all herbs, Lotus can spawn instead of any herb in these 4 zones (or instead of Dreamfoil and Golden Sansam ?).

Farming these for 2 hours in Silithus and 0 spawns. This is ridiculous.

I spent hours in Silithus farming this. I got 317 dreamfoil and a slew of other herbs. During that time I got 4 black lotus - 4! That is absurd. Does Blizzard think this is a good way to spend game time?

Silithus for 3 hours, late at night, mostly alone in a zone: 3 Black Lotus.

Timing: nothing for a while, I figured clearing all the herbs to trigger respawn of any kind took a while,
then 3 within an hour, random intervals.

Locations: 1. Golden Sansam, 2. Mountain Silversage, 3. Dreamfoil.
Didn't use any gathering addons mentioned here - we all know where these herbs spawn, gathered since Vanilla, so trust me on this :)

None of my locations were precisely the coordinates listed on this page.
My take on this, it's a rare spawn of any of the common herbs.

Also cleared all Sungrass for a good measure, not sure if it has anything to do with anything.
