These guys are really easy to solo as a level 60 who can kite, if you have good enough gear you can solo them without kiting them. Have fun!

so far, ive noticed a total of 6 independant spawns for these guys.

5 localised patrolling spawns - all along the northern/eastern side of the big river that divides the zone, and...
1 patrol which patrols IN the water... im not sure how far he patrols too, but i encountered him towards the western end of the river most of the time.

If you are grinding these (probably for guardian stones) then the respawn time is quick enough to do a full loop and have them respawned at the far end when u return.

Personally, i just do a "/target Stone Guardian" macro and hug the northern/eastern side of the river and spam it till i find one.

edit: the guardian stones are a requirement for the Enchant Cloak: Dodge, enchant - which is currently the most sought after lvl19/29 melee enchant, so some people WILL farm them, its not a waste of time for them, even if u think twinking might be a waste of time :)

They have around 5 min. respawn time. You can make it from west to east and then run back and take them all again (as lvl 70 aswell)

They can be hard to kill for a shaman or a druid, because they have very high nature resistance.

Killed one of these just a level 50 preist and a level 54 warrior.
Did take quite a long time to kill.

Although they are apparently the only mob to drop Guardian Stones (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=12809#reagent-for) I think it is a waste of time to kill them because it takes ages and the drop rate for Guardian Stones are very slim.

Managed to solo one as a level 52 hunter, it took time, but it wasn't hard. Just make sure you don't run into any hostiles (esp. devilsaurs).

All you have to do is kite kite kite, I used frost trap (LnL procces) and switched between Aspects of the Viper and Hawk. These guys aren't particularily fast, so Pack or Cheetah aren't needed. I put HMark on him, then I just used Serpent Sting, Arcane Shot and Steady when I gained some distance.

I kept my pet on him, but turned all high-threat moves off (crushing blows for ~500-600 hurt)

Done this as elemental Shaman lvl59. Confirmed, that mob affected by all types of CC :Frost Shock, Storm, Earth and Fire, Earthbind Totem. Hits about 250-300 on mail (4900 armor), crit about 500-600. Swinging quite slow, so even for clothie shouln't be hard.
If you gonna kite this keep in mind that it can daze.
Rewarded 748xp @ 59 lvl.

These are non-elite as of patch 4.0.3 and also you can mine them for Mithril Ore, Shattered Rock Fragment, and Deeprock Salt.

There are a lot of these around the former site of Marshal's Refuge and during the quest Marshal's Refuse the nearest one to you will become hostile each time you pick up a Discarded Supplies.

I discovered while leveling my priest that they can attack each other with Shockwave and if you have little or no threat on one it will attack the other guardian back. I found this incredibly useful for speeding up the quest by just running around shielding myself and paying no mind to them as they wrecked each other.

When you pick up any discarded supplies, any nearby will aggro you, saying:

Stone Guardian says: Do not disturb the investigation protocol.
Stone Guardian says: You will not interfere.
Stone Guardian says: You shall not contaminate the investigation site.

Some sinister bad guy has taken control of them and wants to take all the Land of the Lost crystals! Muahaha.

If you're looking to farm Guardian Stones the drop rate really isn't that bad. I found that as a lvl 52 Hunter I could usually 2-shot them. The northern area where the town used to be is pretty nice, by the time I got all the way to the end (inside the cave) the ones out front had started to respawn. My guess is they dropped roughly 1/5 kills. In the (about) 10 minutes I spent up there 9 dropped for me.

Around 73,69 it can be found with a quick respawn time around a tree.

The map isn't entirely correct as of this post. While they are, indeed, found largely at the Marshal's Refuge and inside the cave there, I have seen them several other places as well. Including just south of where the words "The Roiling Gardens" are on the map, among other places.

I'm pretty sure they can be found just about anywhere in Un'goro mostly, because they tend to wander around (albeight alone) quite a bit if they're not near/in the cave.

While farming Stone Guardians for Guardian Stones, I got the following in about 30 minutes or so:
Guardian Stone x26
Thorium Ore x46 (from mining the 'corpses')
Badly Broken Dark Spear x2 (second drop had to be left abandoned)
